Miserable marriage and lost loves of the beauty who won the heart of Simon Cowell
Daily Mail ^ | March 8, 2010 | Simon Cable

Her summer wedding to Simon Cowell will be far more than just a lavish affair.

This time it will actually be a joyous occasion - unlike the first time Mezhgan Hussainy said her marriage vows.

For when she was just 19, Miss Hussainy found herself trapped in a loveless arranged marriage to a carpet-seller 13 years her senior who 'disgusted' her.

Both her ex sister-in-law Erlene Garcia and friend Eva Hayes say young Miss Hussainy was left so depressed that she would often cry for hours on end.

Miss Garcia, 44, who was married to Miss Hussainy's older brother Wahid, said she was horrified as she watched her walk down the aisle to marry wealthy Ahmad Shah Zahiri in 1988.

I guess this is a fairy tale in almost every traditional sense of the concept.

I wish her well and wish that the arranged marriage slavery be consigned to the 1st Century slagheap of all middle-eastern sub-civilized “traditions.”

She is also a successful businesswoman. She has her own cosmetics line. Her web site is http://www.mezhgan.com

Simon needs to get an ironclad premarital contract so this woman can’t take any of his money in a divorce.

If such a divorce happens, she should leave with only what she had before the marriage.

Leave the man, leave the man’s money.

Apparently, he does. I’ve actually never seen an episode of American Idol, but I’ve read that he is known as the mean one.

>>She is also a successful businesswoman.<<

She is a big supporter (with $ and time) of Latino artists. But not in an “in your face” way. She just backs them and lets them compete.

I know she is a lib, but not an idiolib like so many. She can no less be a lib than a zebra cannot have stripes. It takes a strength of character beyond talent to take a modern actor to think enough to be a conservative. Don’t expect it from many.

As Murray Slaughter said — you can’t blame a flying donkey if he doesn’t stay up too long.

Fascinating. National Enquirer news is now considered news at FR!

Is that your general principle for marriage, including, for example, a homemaking wife and mother of a man’s children?

The success of John Edwards (right on the money) has given them a place in history.

They may have broken-clock credibility, but that's a step above the MSM.

“National Enquirer news is now considered news at FR!”

Their subject matter may often be boring and silly. But I was once consulted about bringing a defamation action against them. My conclusion after that investigation is that in general, National Enquirer does better sourced and better investigated stories than does the Old Media. When they say Star 1 is boffing Star 2, they are usually right. If they aren’t, they have a solid basis supporting their story.

Plus, they see their mission as selling papers to a large demographic—not as electing socialists to office.

Overall, the Enquirer is more what a newspaper ought to be than the NYT, WAPO etc.

The point of my post was more about the content of the article... I agree with you about their ‘getting it right’ with regards to what they publish. If they weren’t doing so, they’d be out of business years ago via defamation suits.
