LANCASTER-- A man was stabbed in the neck with a meat thermometer after asking a woman to silence her cell phone in a movie theater, a sheriff's department official said.

The stabbing occurred last Saturday at the Cinemark 22 theater at 2600 West Avenue I in Lancaster, according to Detective Richard Cartmill of the Lancaster sheriff's station.

Deputies say that while the movie was playing, a woman was talking on her phone and the victim asked her to turn it off.

The victim was attacked by the woman's boyfriend and another man. Deputies say he was stabbed in the neck with a meat thermometer.

The victim was hospitalized and is expected to survive. Two other people who attempted to help the victim were also injured in the altercation.

Sheriff's officials describe the suspects as black males. One man was wearing an orange hat with an orange jacket or jersey. The other man was dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information on the attack is asked to contact the Lancaster sheriff's station at (661) 948-8466.

//The real question is who the hell brings a meat thermometer to a movie theater//

Its something only a black hoodlum would think up I guess.

What a dumbass, racist comment.

LOL all you want, but I think if you ever saw a Smoking caterpillar you just might be disturbed too ;)

Only thing disturbing about it was when my Dad found the scratch on his magnifying glass.

In the original Romero version there was a scene where an old woman uses a sewing needle to hack somebody up. :]

Journalism has lost all professionalism. A true reporter would have learned and published the temperature.

Aw, c'mon. Even you know the answer to that question: ~98.6ºF.

You must remember in the context of criminal prosecution, a cold blooded crime is worse.

Going to see a movie that is designed to undermine my values and the values of the nations is not positive influence on society. Many of us don’t go to movies very often because there isn’t anything worth seeing. On the very rare occasion they do make something good and worthwhile, I will “participate and influence” by going to see it.

Avatar is not representative of Hollywood’s situation though. It is an outlier, a blockbuster and something that is getting enough buzz to draw in the more occasional movie theater attendees. On the whole, movie theater traffic is going down because home theater systems allow more and more people to have nearly as good viewing experience without dealing with the rudeness the started the conflagration.

This is an incredibly subjective statement. I'm not exactly a movie buff myself, but that's not because there's a dearth of good movies to choose from.

Further, I was addressing the segment of populace on FR who elect not to see movies for reasons that are entirely unrelated to a given film's quality, but rather because they prefer to check out of society in general. These are the same people who purport to not own TVs or cell phones because they wish to divorce themselves from society as much as possible. This is dangerous to conservatism, because it allows cultural liberalism to run unchecked.

Or a simple ballpoint pen. A sturdy necklace makes a great garrote, big ol’ heavy bracelet or watch band could be used as “knuckle dusters” (brass knucks), et cetera. Getting creative like that’s a useful art! Hopefully, though, when the MacDonald ruling comes down, we can pack proper heat and watch society become POLITE once again!

I should have read the article first, oh wait I did.

It was black hoodlums who brought a meat thermometer into a theater and used it as a weapon. It looked to much like a shank to them I guess. But then what doesn't if a person is of that sort of mindset?

Sorry you dont like it. I dont either, having been on the receiving end of black hoodlum street violence a time or two way back when.

Once you've seen it up close or have been the target of it, it will change your mind of 'whats racist' forever

Regards

When guns and knives are prohibited, they can be carried legaly. Ball-peen hammers and screwdrivers are also very much favored by criminals.

The traditional Japanese weapons of Martial Arts began as tools and farming implements. The "serf" class were forbidden weapons, so they built fighting styles around common items.
