It’s my FR anniversary?! Thank you, I would not have remembered. Can’t believe it’s been 12 years. Where has the time gone?
I hate not having time to stop by and say hello. Hopefully, soon, I will be able to participate a little more. We’ll see.
Hope all is well in your world. I miss getting together with you and Jim and our fellow Fresno area FReepers.
Dwight Yoakam actually does a few of Elvis' songs, like,
Suspicious Minds and
Crazy Little Thing Called Love
....and he definitely has the Elvis hip swivel thing down pat, huh? And could his jeans be any tighter? LOL.
I am old enough to remember, when Elvis was performing on Ed Sullivan, they kept the camera on his 'top half'. After all, it was airing in 'family hour'. My, how things have changed!
LOL
Yes ... it took a while for us to see what all the uproar was about. Sure reminds me of our youth. :)
I had hoped to plan a get-together before the Tea Party but after my computer troubles, I’m spending a lot of time trying to reconstruct bookkeeping documents. Amazing how much stuff, I have on this little pc.
Maybe we can plan something after tax day. We haven’t seen you guys since July .... that is far too long.
LOL ... that was cute.
Did you watch California Gold when they were in Bakersfield. That is Buck Owen’s bar/museum.
I’ve had to tell Marissa that she is not allowed to listen to or watch Lady GaGa. She is old enough that she understands the lesbo thing and why she cannot watch it.
Sad that a 10 year old understands Adam and Eve and Adam and Steve and Eve and whoever.
Most of the Buckaroos are the original musicians/singers who played with Buck Owens back during the "Hee Haw" era. I am not a big country western music fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed the two hour show they put on Saturday night. Loved watching the people on the dance floor and listening to the music and, did I mention the Chocolate Martinis? :-)
OMGosh! Yes, that is very sad. I don't know what the kids are listening to today, but what little I have seen and heard is quite alarming. I watched a woman guest singer on American Idol last night who was absolutely bizarre. She was singing some nonsensical song called "Blah, Blah, Blah" and gyrating around on the stage in an strange costume with an Indian headdress. I thought that it couldn't get much worse back when my son was a teen, with Ozzy Osbourne, KISS and Metallica, etc....but, apparently, I was wrong.
On Fox News, they talked about LadyGaGa going overboard and suggesting that you not let your kids watch her videos.
I started to tell Marissa that she could no longer listen to her and she said. “I know; she is a lesbo.” Needless to say, I almost fell out of my chair. I started to say “Gay” she told me that men were gay and women were lesbos.
In church during the prop 8 controversy, she learned Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.
I cannot imagine what these so-called entertainers will be doing next. Mostly she listens to Hannah Montana but she is showing interest in other music. I try to get her interested in the oldies ... ie: Nat King Cole, Dean Martin, Elvis. LOL
Well, good luck with that. LOL
I am glad I am not raising kids today.
LOL
First, let me say how much I enjoyed your opening post today! Next, after reading through your exchanges about today’s musical performances.....LadyGaGa and Kei$ha are NOTHING compared to Adam Lambert - if you didn’t watch the AMA’s in November - or even if you did, by the time it was aired in California, they had censored the worst part of his pornographic performance. Could. Not. Believe. My. Eyes! In my time zone, it was LIVE and UNCUT. Sick, not only because it was on network TV, but it was also before 10PM, and many kids are still up at that time, even on a school night.
P.S. Is ANYBODY HERE BESIDES ‘US’?!
I don't know how parents today are dealing with what their kids are seeing/hearing in the entertainment medias. I just don't know.
LOL. I don't think so! I finally am able to be here for awhile and there is no one here but the three of us. :-(
So, I am going to go have lunch. :-)
I liked Anoop and Danny that year, and after it was between Kris Allen and Adam, I was so hoping for Kris to win.
Who do you like this year on AI?
And do you think Ellen adds anything at all to the panel? And what is up with Kara and Simon? She keeps leaning into him....she might as well just go ahead and sit on his lap. LOL.
Crystal Bowerhouse! I liked Lilly and hated to see she didn’t make the Top 12. For the guys, I like Aaron and Lee, and Casey somewhat. How about you?
As for Ellen, I just like her, period! I do not like Kara and cannot STAND Simon! I didn’t like Kara last year, and this year, she thinks she’s the greatest thing since Simon. LOL
