Is Sam Worthington Replacing Daniel Craig for Bond 23?
Cinema Spy ^ | 02.16.2010

His name’s Worthington. Sam Worthington. But there’s a chance he might be the next 007, too.

Online sources are connecting the Avatar star to Ian Fleming’s famed British super-spy, while other rumors suggest Daniel Craig might be on the way out. According to Digital Spy, the Australian Worthington has been named by betting agencies as the most likely star to replace Craig, who starred in 2006’s Casino Royale and 2008’s Quantum of Solace.

There was always something unsettlingly Putinish about Craig. Worthington looks like a Bond.

Hmmm...don’t think I am buying him as Bond. He was in Terminator: Salvation and Avatar and I see he is starring in The Clash of the Titans but he doesn’t seem Bondish to me.

After the idiotic selection of Same Mendes to helm the next installment, it only makes sense to pick an equally ridiculous actor to boot. Craig saved the franchise only to hand to Mendes who'll surely destroy it, again.

I'm sure they'll choose a story line that has either the traditional American values or the Marine Corps as the villains. It seems that's the only story Mendes knows how to tell.

Worthington has the same face and mannerisms to be Bond and like every other Bond they will be stereotyped with the exception of Connery.

I doubt SW has the range. Craig can only do one more “dark Bond” movie but it’s to his role as Bond that invigorated the franchise. At least Gerard Butler is trying to shed his 300’ stereotype and going for comedic roles.

Bond movie lovers want their James Bond to look like Sean Connery. They tried a guy who looks just the opposite and he didn't catch fire.

From his photo above, this Worthington guy (whom I've never seen or heard of before) can stir my martini any time. He can shake it, too.

Never happen. Bond will never be American just like Harry Potter actors. It has to be british/Commonwealth. I hate Mendes too. The reason why Road to Perdition was watchable because the cinematographer who worked on it worked on Minority Report and Saving Private Ryan.

Maybe this guy will know how to drive a standard shift and shoot a gun.

He’s probably too old now, but Ralph Feinnes was once considered for the part of Bond. The story goes that Feinnes was eliminated from consideration in part because he wanted to take the character back to the Connery mold - i.e. a very non-PC attitude towards women and life in general. Dunno if that is true or not, but Feinnes could have been a pretty good Bond, IMHO.

The oddest Bond considerations I’ve read about were Britpop singer Robbie Williams and Roland Gift, lead singer for the 80’s band The Fine Young Cannibals.

But what’s the with hairline? Looks like he’s got a little Ben Affleck/Tom Brady action going on up there.

I’m sorry but I thought the two movies with Craig were totally boring. I’m glad I waited until they were on the old release shelf at the video store to rent them. I would have felt ripped off if I had paid new release price, much less theater price. On another note, maybe it’s just because I can’t stand Daniel Craig because of the anti-gun liberal lefty agenda he espouses. I read an article where he stated something to the effect of hating guns because they kill people and thinks the Bond gun barrel opening scene is ridiculous. I’ll bet he doesn’t think his Bond paycheck is ridiculous though. Seriously it’s out there just google him. I hope we get a new Bond for the next flick and would rather have kept Brosnan on for a couple more.

All bonds before Craig were ridiculously camp. Watching pre-craig bond films is like watching a less-funny version of Austin Powers.
Craig is how you would imagine a secret agent with a license to kill would be. Cold, ruthless, and serious (but not in a German way)...

Lazenby, the only Bond that could easily beat up the other five.

Worthington is going to be pretty famous.

He just starred in the highest grossing film of all time worldwide. The last person to do that was Leo DiCaprio.
