Just saw a rock fall across the sky

I've seen meteors before, but this was a rock falling. It was not ablaze like a meteor entering the atmosphere. It was headed east across Pennsylvania. It was perhaps a mile or so above me. From my vantage point it appeared at least a few meters across (judging from the distance). Guessing it would fall into the Atlantic.

Correction: It was headed north by northwest.

Did it make a sonic boom?
How could you discern the altitude and size?
It should have landed by now. Did it reach the Atlantic? Or did it destroy Philadelphia in the last several minutes?
Where are YOU????

Well, two meters at two kilometers subtends .001 radians, about a tenth the apparent diameter of the moon. But so does twenty meters at twenty kilometers, so how could you judge the distance? Appearances can be deceiving!

How can you tell it was a mile up? How did you know how big the rock was? Maybe some kid next door was throwing rocks in the air.

I’m in NE PA. It went by pretty fast (naturally). I’m just going my impression. I figure a mile up? (I can see flights headed toward ABE, and this appeared to be around the same height). Of course, it might have been smaller & closer. If it was larger, I’m sure we’d have heard about it by now....

a rock a mile up would be too small to see
if it came from space it would be on fire

It was probably BO/BS taking out AF-1 for a sight seeing flight.
