If BHO is removed from office because he is not a natural citizen, he then becomes a race martyr and Biden becomes president. Hillary probably becomes VP. How would this help conservatives in 2010 and 2012 -- it would hurt us, right?
If the Lewinsky debacle had removed Clinton, Gore would have become President and cruised to his own electorial victory. This would have been a disaster.
I agree there is a puzzle here. I agree there is free speech & everyone has a right to pursue this. My question: is there some angle here that I've missed that makes this smart?

But when they finally trot out the long form BC, all it's going to show is that the Hawaiian born baby had a father who was not an American Citizen. (By the time they get finished, it might also show that BHO, Jr. is also The Lost Dauphin de la belle France, or the Tsarevich.)
BHO, Jr. cheerfully does not claim to be a Natural Born Citizen. All he says is that he is Native Born. Cool. Native Born just ain't Natural Born, which is what you're supposed to be to be POTUS.

No lawyer here, but I think courts generally agree that its up to states and the voter to decide qualifications, the theory being that a powerful oligarchy in robes could control who is nominated, the same way in Iran. Of course, in future years, judicial activists [maybe as activist as the Kelo Surpreme Court] will be tempted to take out a conservative president.

I agree, but the problem is that everyone has a different definition. The word, ‘birther’, now engulfs anyone who asks the most reasonable of questions.
It might not hurt to look at the absolute worst case example and to think of a new name for it. Kenya Crow or something. Of course, most Kenyans are hardcore Kenya Crows, possibly most Africans and many muslims. So, I dunno.

If there really were anything in this -- either the Kenyan birth story or the natural born citizen one -- it would have to be pursued, regardless of consequences. But there isn't.
Granted there are a lot of unanswered question about Obama's background, but no credible evidence of Kenyan birth has come up. The problem is that you can't prove a negative.
Also the Vattel natural born citizen theory is just that -- a theory, an interpretation -- and people won't give it up until there's a court ruling (or even then).
It's not going to be disproven by facts, because it's not a question of the facts, but of how much credence you give to one interpretation of the historical and textual evidence, rather than another.
So regardless of the wisdom of such stories, they're going to be around as long as Obama is (if not longer).

Exactly... the tactics will be difficult.
As long as common documents remain hidden there will be conspiracy rumors. People wanted to see all the National Guard records for George W Bush, too. All requested records should be displayed, assuming they can be located. For the good of the country we need to put this behind us... let’s see all the documents & when this proves there is nothing strange, then that will close the book and we won’t have to listen to this nonsense ever again. After all, what harm could there be in release certificates & applications & so on? Of course people will assume the worst, so let’s come together, ask for the documents, and then move on to other, more worthy topics. How can we blame people for being curious when documents are being hidden? The President is obviously a citizen, so he should release everything and spare us from this never ending distraction.
Well, if Obama released an original birth certificate it would quiet things down, but they’ll be people who won’t even believe that.

No proof, whatsoever, will be acceptable to birthers. There is no truth where birthers are concerned. There is only the collective birther consciousness (CBC). If Obama produced the long form for you tomorrow that says he was born in Hawaii, the CBC would call its authenticity into question "because Obama's had two plus years to create a perfect forgery."
The CBC already believes that the Hawaii DoH is deceptive. You wouldn't accept their affirmation of the long form. If document experts examined and vouched for the long form, the CBC would claim those experts were traitors who caved under threats or bribes.
If the SCOTUS decided to hear an eligibility case and ruled that Obama is a NBC, the CBC would condemn the honorable justices as traitors who should be impeached for treason.
No, the only truth acceptable to birthers is either a long form that indicates a home or foreign birth or a SCOTUS ruling that deemed Obama ineligible. Birthers don't want the truth, they want an affirmation of their suspicions.
And that's where we part ways, FRiend, because although I'd like a SCOTUS ruling to settle the matter once and for all, I am willing to accept a ruling that declares Obama a NBC. Can you? If so, unplug from the CBC.

That is a point. The longer he puts it off ....
It would help, wouldn’t it? I personally will never trust the guy at this point, but it would make a lot of people embarassed. The steam would be out.
