Hi! New member here. Just wanted to see if there are any interesting questions about Sweden. I'll answer them all as best as I possibly can.
Yes, deep South, and sort of rare, (every 5 years or thereabout) but second time recently. In December I think the snow fall was a little over an inch. This is already at least 2 inches and 6 or more is anticipated.
Are you logged in?
Around here (South Carolina) Walgreens carries them.
Since it’s agreed there will be no zot, by all means, proceed!
Lemme grab a beer...

He, he, he - my brother-in-law is going to hear that one tomorrow!

The Norwegian language is completely incomprehensible to a Swede. It's not the language, it's the Norska...

Never a problem!
No, it's not a ban, they just give you a hard time, and if the thread is flakey enough, the Mod will probably pull it.
You're in no danger here!
Very glad you are with us...

When you read English, are you thinking in your Swedish language?
When I took French in school, when reading the French sentences I would be thinking of the English word. Therefore, I was always thinking in English, never French.
And what about when you speak English? Same thing, are you thinking in your native language while doing it?
I could say the words, “Parlez-vous francais?” but I would be thinking “Do you speak French?” while just vocalizing the French words.
But for someone who is fluent in a language such as yourself, does the mind begin to actually think in the new language?
Hope this makes sense.
Eat sh!t...
Hey! I'm innocent, I tell you! That's what the woman told me!!!!

The visual of that really cracked me up. LOL
No. It’s more a feeble attempt at a “Lena and Ole” joke...

Yes, I'd love to know about that. Maybe Wennerstrom was too closely based on a real person?
I think Lisbeth Salander ROCKS.
The big coffee companies almost cured Americans of their coffee habit. The bean counters (literally) insisted on using the cheapest (worst) coffee to maximize profit. People forgot what coffee was supposed to taste like. Consumption was crashing in the 60-70s. The specialty coffee companies saved the industry.
You didn’t hear? Ole passed away.
He was up on the Canadian border harvesting trees when he came upon border control agents. They demanded to know who he was and what he was doing.
He replied “Ole, bin log’n”
So they shot him.
(say it out loud)
There were actually two waves of emigration, around the 1870’s then another on around the turn of the century.
There may have been some free land for the first wave but none for the second wave. My grandfathers worked for years before they could buy their little farms.
Uff da is the sound you make when you, or someone you are watching, are metaphorically punched in the gut.
And I think it may be more American than Swedish actually.

I believe the current equivalent is "D'oh!"
The Volvo...helping liberals get to the “Save The Whales” rallys since 1959.
I would say D’oh when something I did came back and kicked me in the rear end.
Uff da is appropriate when the universe does it to you.
Subtle but there is a difference.
