FAIRFIELD, Calif. --A Fairfield teen used a ninja sword to fend off a mountain lion after it attacked his dog Wednesday afternoon.
Marquel Dawson, 19, was playing with the pit bull and German shepherd mix in a nature area near Fairview Place at about 1:30 p.m. when the mountain lion attacked.

Maybe not. I had a large lab cross that was attacked by a mountain lion and he lived. The vet confirmed it was a large cat because of the bites on the face and the scratches on the belly.
In this article, he also describes the cougar as the same size as his dog. In the other story, he said it was twice as big. I think it was probably a young, small cougar, otherwise it would have eaten the dog long before the kid got back.
