Marquel Dawson, 19, was playing with the pit bull and German shepherd mix in a nature area near Fairview Place at about 1:30 p.m. when the mountain lion attacked.

I would have thought "Ninja Swords" are illegal in the Land of Fruits ahd Nuts.

I wonder how long before the guy gets charged for an illegal weapon and harrassing the Mountain Lion.

My friends had an adopted Puma they had declawed and defanged. I thought it ok to play with it and found it funny his big dogs were terrified of it... that is until its paw smacked my face in a play and nearly ripped my head off. I was knocked out for a minute and were sent to the hospital to wear a brace on my neck.

If it had been for real and with claws on, I do not think
I would have made it. These things are extremely muscular and strong behind their velvety coats. It’s like a totaly different scale of strength one can imagine.

I knew a woman worked at a wildlife preserve in southern California and she kept a mountain lion in her house...it was named Orfey. He mostly like to hang out in the living room and that at least had a gate. But he was also allowed to run around the house and it was real interesting to be eating dinner with Orfey running around.

They lived in what was called a “wall house” so when you drove into the neighborhood all you saw were walls instead of yards and everyone had courtyards inside those walls .... I wonder if the neighbors knew what what inside those walls.

the woman you knew was either a mental case or an animal "lover." (if she were TRULY an animal lover, she would contact a zoo, or make arrangements to have it released back into the wild) either way, she WILL be supper at some point in time.

it always gets to me that some people think that wild animals, seen on t.v. are so cute and cuddly, until they feast on your carcass.

In CA the law does not limit the length of your knife if it is not a folding knife and if you carry it openly (specifically, on your belt, in a sheath/scabbard.) Very similar to open carry of handguns.

From what I know of cats and dogs, I imagine a half dozen pit bulls would be about a match for a full grown mountain lion. They would probably kill the cat and about 3 of them would survive.

Zulu, you hit the nail right on the head. If you see a mountain lion coming after you while you’re in the 9th Circuit’s jurisdiction, then you’re better off kissing your behind goodbye.

I guess kid was a hero for saving the dog. Think a man with a sword plus a pit bull would usually atleast scare away a mountain lion. However, he was taking a big chance to return to the seen and confront the lion at a close distance. Doesn’t seem like a great idea.

If the mountain lion was driving a SUV the reporter would probably have a liberalgasm.

Colonel Sanders got his start in much the same way. It was a vicious attack but he prevailed.

Search for “Mom fights off Cougar”. A Canadian woman fought a cougar with her bare hands after it attacked her 3 year old daughter.
