This makes two for me. The first was about ten years ago also while driving home from work. It was much more spectacular.

Hmmmm. Second report of a fireball on FR today. The first, in Ireland, was reported earlier. Can anyone say H.G. Wells?

We saw it too! We were driving east on hiway 58 just outside Bakersfield. It was in several pieces close together, glowing in various colors including green and orange. It was quite a show - lasted about two or three seconds before it flames out.

I was on the 5 north at that time in LA and I did see something but it looked like landing lights into LAX not the classic streaking blue green of a meteor. Where specifically were you on the 5? I was just passing the citidel at that time.

Remember the early morning sonic booms a number of years ago that no one would own up to? North bound over Los Angeles would put it on the same path to a remote Nevada air field. I’m not sure what color is produced by the combustion of methane and that could be further complicated by external combustion on the hyper-cooled surface of the air foil skin. Or it could be a rock.

Glad to know I'm not losing my mind. Was driving on 5N tonight around 7:30pm and saw a huge fireball move quickly across the sky. Was waiting for an explosion or something on the news about it, but nothing. I called my son and told him about it because I've never seen anything like it. Glad to know someone else saw it too.
