Her song is Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway". It's a bit thin compared to the original. And slower. But okay.

Ellen: Love that you took our note, picked a young song. Right song for you to sing. But I didn't feel you were breaking away, didn't take a risk.

Simon: I think this has been very confusing for you. You take our advice. I would have suggested a different type of song. Kinda sucked the energy out of it, made it gloomy (yes).
Katie was 8 years old when Kelly Clarkson won the first Idol. Says she wants to be that kind of singer.

Agreed — add Clarkson to the “don’t even try” list. I am no big Clarkson fan, but her pedigree at AI says “Do Not Touch” for subsequent contestants.

She’s too “soulful” for her age.
Shame, because she’s cute as a button. And she does have a good voice. Just needs more training...and better songs.

Just pray that no one wants to do the “Beat Boxing” sound from AOL years past......Id take a Kelly Clarkson wannabe any night over that crap
