We discuss everything on this site...it doesn’t take away from being aware of things in America, nor does it take away from doing things to make the situation better.

We also discuss gardening, finding jobs, dating, religion, all sorts of things.

Mellow out.

Ed

..inappropriate (Mike picking up Katie)

Mike is a camera whore.

If the drama-cam had not been following Katie, would Mike have bear hugged her? I'm guessing no.

Mike really knows how to work that camera in the green room.

Doesn't he though? It's like the Big Mike show back there.

I think she is g-o-n-e as long as everyone else keeps the ball in the alley.

She could be a surprise elimination tomorrow night.

Besides her bad performance tonight, I think Siobhan's freaky friends caused her some real damage last week. (Noticed there was no mention of the "Siobhamies" tonight or whatever they called themselves.) And her backstage sulk didn't do her any favors either.

Knight and Day looks like the most annoying movie ever.

Yes :-| Last night was the first time I saw the commercial. I'm already sick of it.

And it doesn't open for another 3 months!

Is it really important to discuss American Idol on this site??????? I think not.

I agree.

I think we should all do what you want to do.

They fall all over themselves to praise so-so performances, and they give Crystal faint praise.

I don't understand it either. And at the end, Simon said Lee was the "main course"??

Lee was good, but Bowersox was hair-raising!

Not a surprise — well, maybe a mild one. But the bottom 3 are her, Bobby Sherman Cassidy and Didi. But, like you (and Simon)said, the boppers will keep timmuh alive for another week.

I really liked Bowersox but I thought she looked uneasy on the piano and uncomfortable in her clothes and shoes. It seemed she just wasn’t 100% there. I totally agree with what Simon said to her.

If Siobhan gets voted off before before the top five, I think the judges will use their save.

Sue Sylvester for President!!

Best comment of the night! I saw her too! Lucky audience, Usher and Jane Lynch in the house! WOWWWW!

Seems like Usher brought out the best in the Idols (some of their bests not as good as others;) and in Idol Freepers! I don't remember seeing ya'll quite so upbeat and positive in some time. Love it!!! Spring fever, maybe?

I am so excited Lee has finally broken out. He literally had me dancing. I thought the same thing as you guys, I can't wait to buy that album.

Casey was awesome, and Crystal..may not have been her best performance, but it was cool, and gutsy. The girl just doesn't quit. How exciting it will be to see her get better, she's so talented, and what a great song choice.

The rest..meh. Really wish Tim sounded as good as he looks cause he is so dang cute. Tim should teach Andrew how to smile and Andrew should teach Tim how to sing.

For the love of God will SOMEBODY teach those girls how to dress?? I just can't take it anymore!! How I miss Legs and McPhees. Sigh.

Alright, just hold on a minute here! Everything about Siobhan's performance suxed! What was with the balloon pants??? And again she didn't take my Simon's advice and still used the boringass, tired scream, AGAIN! Oh my, it was like she forgot how to sing! I know people have bad performances, but that was ridiculous for her. I would say you could not have PLANNED that performance to be worse!

Siobhan, stop singing in your low register, pick higher keys! Bottom three for sure, she might be packing this week...dumbass, stubborn, radical kid!

I've got to give credit to guest mentor Usher here. He gave the contestants lots of good advice, especially about performance skills, and as such, the average performance level rose well above previous weeks, more so than the purging of dead wood would indicate.

Not a whole lot of shake-up in my overall rankings. I still think it's a Siobhan vs. Crystal race, with everyone else jockeying for position, but the second tier isn't as far behind as they used to be. As always, there are overall standings, not just for last night:

  1. (last week 2) Crystal - Solid, consistent, but I still don't sense a "wow" factor from her. At all. Not her best performance this week (see really did seem uncomfortable behind the piano), but good enough to temporarily take over the #1 spot.
  2. (last week 1) Siobhan - I knew consistency would eb an issue, and here she had her first real "off" night. It really didn't work as well as it could have (and the lower register stuff betrayed just how much the nerves got to her), but here's hoping she'll bounce back string next week.
  3. (last week 3) Casey - As with Crystal, it's a consistent level of performance that just doesn't have any star quality -- I never get any sense of "Casey" in anything he sings, he just morphs into whatever he sings and stays within a comfort zone. (I think someone on here said "one man tribute band", which pretty much nails it.)
  4. (last week 4) Michael - Big Mike needed a good performance, and he got it this week. Maybe a teeny bit over the top in a couple of places, but on the whole, it worked, and solidified last week's move up.
  5. (last week 6) Lee - Good performance this week. Can he keep it up and find some way of standing out?
  6. (last week 5) Didi - Didi's biggest strength and her biggest weakness is her emotion. She needs to find a balance between infusing her singing with the emotion without letting it overcome her. This week, she swung too far into the "control" side, and as such, the performance was pretty flat. Better at the end, but by then, I'm sure most folks mentally tuned out.
  7. (last week 8) Katie - I thought she did better than the judges said she did. She's still not quite ready for prime time, but I'm looking forward to seeing how she improves as an artist after the tour.
  8. (last week 7) Aaron - As with Katie, Aaron just doesn't have the stage maturity to convincingly deliver, despite having a pretty good voice... another one to keep an eye on after the tour. He'll last longer than he should, according to my rankings, because the tween girls like him.
  9. (last week 9) Andrew - Best performance in the live shows yet. Not enough to move him up on the overall chart; maybe if he makes it two weeks in a row. Not a good sign when his mama is more entertaining than he is.
  10. (last week 10) Tim - You've survived this long because of some horrific performances below you, but your day of reckoning should be at hand. If the audience actually votes the way they should, at least.

===========

Voted off #11 (my rank: 11) Paige - Seems like a nice girl, but just not ready for this; even without the voice problems, song selection was awful.
Voted off #12 (my rank: 12) Lacey - Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Well, I was actually pleasantly surprised last night. While not anything overly special, the night was also not the succession of mediocrity that last week was. Almost everyone raised their games a little bit, with three notable exceptions. I thought Usher did a really good job with his advice also, that was a pleasant surprise too.

Anyway, on to the rankings:

1. Crystal Bowersox – Midnight Train to Georgia – Crystal changed it up a little, got out of her comfort zone some, and absolutely hit this one out of the park. The girl is just a flat out excellent singer and performer. BUT, she may have some real competition now:

2. Lee Dewyze – Treat her Like a Lady – We have all been saying that Lee was right on the cusp of getting everything together, and tonight it all fell into place. Simon was dead on in his remarks – This was the night that changed Lee’s life forever. Lee has firmly stamped himself as someone who is here to win this thing, and he sent notice to MommaSox that this will not be a cakewalk to the title. By far his best performance of the season.

3. Michael Lynche – Ready For Love – Any doubts at all about Michael’s voice, pitch, range, etc were answered tonight. He absolutely slayed this gorgeous ballad. This was just a flat out beautiful velvety smooth performance. But, one small nitpik, we know Michael can sing the love songs, now it is time to change it up and go up-tempo. Is he up to the challenge.

4.Casey James – Hold on, I’m Coming – Well, if there were any doubts what a Casey James album will contain they were answered tonight. This song was dead in Casey’s wheelhouse. Strong vocals, excellent guitar work. The kid is destined to be a blues singer, end of story. But, as with Mike, Casey needs to now stretch it out a little and show us he can get out of his little box.

5. Katie Stevens – Chain of Fools – By far Katie’s best performance of the year. Loved the little head bobs and sassiness of the performance, but have to agree with the judges that it all looked a little too planned and not totally believable. Her voice however was absolutely beautiful tonight, so good job overall.

6. Andrew Garcia – Forever – Andrew’s best performance of the season, and yet I only have him sixth, that in and of itself says a lot about Andrew. He did really well on this song, and I liked it a lot, but it was not quite up to the level of the top 5.

Aaron Kelly – Ain’t No Sunshine – OK, I will actually admit it, for once I was actually digging Aaron’s voice a little. The kid did not totally annoy me or make me attempt to rip my ears off. Vocally he was probably in the top 5, but this song requires a depth and grit from the singer that Aaron just does not have. I liked it, but this was not a great song for him to attempt.

8. Siobhan Magnus – Through The Fire – My how the mighty have fallen. Siobhan slipped a little last week, and totally fell off the pedestal this week. Completely wrong song choice. All Siobhan did with this song was highlight all the worst parts of her voice, and show just what an amazing singer Chaka Kahn was. This was nasally, all over the place, and just plain bad.

9. Tim Urban – Sweet Love – Ummm yeah. This was about the biggest steaming pile of mediocrity one could imagine. It was not horrible, but it was not good. Tim is basically department store background music at this point, you don’t really notice it while it is playing, and you won’t notice it when it is gone. But, the puppy dog eyes and infectious personality may keep him around a little while because there was much much worse.

10. Didi Benami – What Becomes of the Broken-Hearted – I don’t even know where to begin with this disaster. Off key, all over the place, totally devoid of any emotion, and just plain awful. Didi is such a conundrum. One week she is captivating and the next she is horrid. How do you manage to completely suck every single ounce of emotion out of this amazing song? Just bad, really really really bad.

SHOULD GOHOME: Based on this week it is Didi by a mile, based on the complete body of work it is Tim by a mile.

WILL GO HOME: I think for the third week in a row Tim may get saved by a complete trainwreck performance. Hate to see Didi leave us, but I honestly think she is in huge trouble. I would also not be shocked to see Siobhan in the bottom 3, but I think she probably has the fan base to avoid it. If I had to bet I would say Didi, Tim, Andrew; with Didi going home.

I thought of you last night when I pulled out my mail and noticed the envelope on top that had—BEAT BOXER!—written on it. Then I saw the pic of Babs and realized it was some political fundraiser thing.

ROTFLMAO!!!
