Worst Films of All Time?

In the spirit of the current thread "Best Films of all Time?", I just have to ask for the other end of the spectrum.

I don't mean "Night of the Lupus", "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes", or other standard bad/forgettable films. I don't mean just box-office flops. I want to see tour-de-force bad.

They made a 3rd, and several others, that basically pretended the 2nd did not happen. Sean Connery was in it because his contract from the first movie required it. I read somewhere he does not think it is funny to ask him about it.

There was also a 90s tv series that was not that bad.

Castaway with Tom Hanks.

Part of it was really good, but the end was boring, and awful. If they had ended it 1/2 hour earlier, it would not have ended up on my list, the end just ruined it.

I’ve been a huge Coens fan since “Blood Simple”.

“No Country” was interesting in spots, but did nothing for me overall. I wouldn’t call it bad, but it was definitely forgettable. Painfully average by Joel and Ethan’s standards.

I heard that III was actually watchable, but I was so soured on the series by II that I skipped it.

It probably could be made into a decology of movies but the novels are so dense that it might take two movies per novel to do it justice. FX are so much better now that when it was made that it might just be worth it.

I agree that the books are so dense with detail and character and history that it could easily support a whole chain of movies. The mini-series was decently done.

I liked DUNE. It broke down half way through, but it's solidly watchable.

Not so the miniseries. With the exception of the second book which was done pretty well, it was lifeless and dull.

In particular that nincompoop who played Gurney Halleck has got to be the worst actor ever: and it didn't help that all his scenes had Saskia Reeves or the other Jessica in.

Lemme guess, you wanted the movie wrapped up with a nice red bow, right? You know...he gets back with is long lost girlfriend, they have a family & live happily ever after.

Not that I have anything against Bernadette Peters or Steve Martin, but their version of “Pennies from Heaven” was the only film I’ve ever walked out on. Horrendous.

Nominees tied for second place: Call me an intellectual dullard if you will, but “Woman in the Dunes” and Bergman’s “Seventh Seal” are in a dead heat for the most boring, self-absorbed films I’ve ever had the misfortune of sitting through.

A group of us was all excited about the move, and we paid money for it, walked out after 45 minutes, and one shouted as we were leaving: “There should have been only one.”

I am shocked that no one mentioned the greatest movie of all time: Plan 9 From Outer Space, starring Bela Lugosi, Vampira and Thor. It is truly an Ed Wood extravaganza of exciting and thrilling special effects (paper plate hanging from a visible string as the flying saucer, cardboard tombstones in the scary cemetery scenes). Bela Lugosi died before completion of this masterpiece, so his dentist (seriously) played his part during the rest of the filming - he held a cape covering most of his face so no one would know). Now that’s a movie.
