This would, of course, presume we are somehow related to chimpanzees. A premise many of us reject.

So, the firefighting supervisors also need to speak "chimp". This sounds racist.....

Of course. The entire left “knows” that chimps are really just as smart as humans. Just a matter of time before scientists find out the truth.

Still, chimpanzees in a zoo in South Africa were seen lighting and extinguishing cigarettes without getting burned.
With what, a Bic? A Zippo? A big candle in the middle of the floor? Cigarettes don't actually light themselves, you know, you freaking moron reporter who leaves out details that would make your story actually INTERESTING... they have to be lit by some source of flame, which, in a discussion of chimps, would mean that the chimps were MANAGING that source of flame, which would be interesting to hear about, you lame brain scum bag Wal-Mart-graduate "journalist".

Because after all, Choi, the TITLE of your story is about chimps CONTROLLING fire, not just walking away from it, and the single example you give, the cigarettes, is sans all details. You schmuck.

(Sorry for the rant. I just hate when the "pros" write 3rd grade journalism.)

This newfound capability of chimpanzees,so I guess all other animals just hang around when a fire comes to them.

Further evidence suggesting the primates inside the cages in Africa may be more evolved than the ones outside.

Don’t know how to post it myself, but this thread is crying out for the “Farside” cartoon by Gary Larson showing the apes or apemen fleeing the burning building with the “Fire Research” or some such, sign over the doors!

I wish people would learn English, most especially hack headline writers.

“Controlling” means you can create it. You can extinguish it. You can make it burn right or left, or up and down.

All I read from the article says that chimps have finally figured out that fire is hot and they have a dim clue about whether to run or not.

Given that, it sounds like chimps might make good editors for Sciencedaily!

But there ain’t a single thing here to suggest “controlling”...

Not only that, ducks are equipped with flat feet to stomp out forest fires and elephants are equipped with flat feet to stomp out burning ducks.

Is there a story for the wheelbarrow pic?
I like the way you made it seem the “thinking chimp” was looking at the fire.
