Alabama upsets No. 1 Florida in SEC title game

Alabama is headed for the BCS championship game, thanks to a stunning -- and near-perfect -- victory over No. 1 Florida. The Crimson Tide, ranked No. 2, broke open a tight SEC title game in Atlanta with a solid second half, defeating the Gators 32-13 on Saturday.

The Crimson Tide punched their ticket to the national title game with a magnificent performance against Florida, the defending national champion. They pounded out just shy of 500 yards of offense and forced Gators QB Tim Tebow into uncharacteristic mistakes.

Yep, a rarity these days.

I am willing to be Urban is headed to South Bend. And I wonder if he told his players before the game, or if the players suspect it.

Upset?

Upset?

A number two team does not upset a number one team.

They simply outplay them, and in this case, they outclass them.

If it had been Mayer controlling the 4th qtr, he would have run the score as high as he could. Saban showed the class act that he is by not doing what his team was clearly capable of, and that is to put even more points on the board.

Anybody with just a little savvy knows that...it's just the nature of the snake, and Mayer is a snake.

And I care not one whit about his suspending of Dunlap. The loss of Dunlap to the team was very small and I doubt that his presence would have made a larger difference, but while Mayer will not say it, he will allow the writers to say that Florida lost because he had the magnanimity to suspend him and costing them the game.

But to put it in blunt terms, Florida did not get upset, they got the hell beat out of them by a better team.

Period.

Upset...

Phooey!

Nods. IMHO, sometimes, people like Tim, who are so different from the status quo, make some folks feel more than a little defensive : / Kinda sad actually, because he really is just being himself, and himself, seems to be a darn good kid.

Go figure.

I don't care one whit about football, honestly. Nor golf.

I don't engage in athlete worship.

Didn't care if Florida or Alabama won.

But, here's a prayer for Tim Tebow. A breath of fresh air.

If Tiger Woods wants to blow his multi-million dollar endorsement deals and carefully cultivated image of squeaky-clean to chase cocktail waitresses, I'm not going to smear everyone else just because of Woods' adulterous, poor behavior.

“Kinda sounds like Tiger Woods - no?” HA! Saban sounded more like Tiger Woods when he left LSU, the rumors are still flying around here.

Enjoy it. I haven’t been down to see my kin down there in too long. As the song says, “I miss Alabama once again, and I think it’s a sin.” :-)

Judging NFL talent, yes he does.

He's a seat on some network broadcast. His influence goes as far as mine.

Just admit you’re a Tebow hater, ok?

Nope - he's just another overblown athlete who has yet to prove himself. Just wait until Tim gets hit by an NFL lineman. He'll fold. Happens all the time.

I don’t understand all the Tebow hate.

It’s built up over four years of announcers proclaiming that he is the Second Coming and Superman put together. It got so I had to mute Florida games so I wouldn’t barf.

I get tired of hearing about Tebow like he’s the second coming of Jesus Christ. There are plenty of good people that play college sports. Tonight demonstrated he’s not much without Percy Harvin.

Although I am a Spartan alumnus, I like Saban and cannot tolerate another word about Tebow.

Yeah, Tebow was crying like Rich Rodriguez. Someone tell them there is no crying in football.

“Just wait until Tim gets hit by an NFL lineman. He’ll fold. Happens all the time.”

...he’s a pretty stout kid...he’ll take a hit OK...but the crying thing raises questions in my view...could you see somebody like Payton Manning crying?....or Brett Farve?...hell no, they’d be furious....and that’s just modern era guys....go back to the real tough guys like Johnny Unitas or even Bobby Layne...the offense wouldn’t put out for a guy that cried.

The big problem I had with the game tonight was Verne Lundquist and the other bozo in the booth. Lundquist’s constant worshiping at the altar of Tebow just makes me sick. And tonight they added constant denigration of Alabama. Lundquist hit a new low when he brought up Ingram's father and his situation for no damned good reason. I've lost all respect for Lundquist, the jackass.
