Me, too, Polly. I won’t even get my ears pierced. LOL!
We have a problem up here on the ‘high desert’ with javelina (wild pigs). I wanted to get paint guns for me and my friends to shoot them with - then, when they would return, we could say - “Hey! That one’s got a yellow ‘hit’! He’s MINE!”, and the blue marked one? “That’s mine - he was eating the cactus when I shot him last Tuesday!” And own and own and own.
But, the Fish and Wildlife guy told me that altho it wasn’t illegal - it would ‘shame’ the little guys, to walk around with colored spots. (I almost lost it!)
Shame??? A wild pig??? Are those agents on crack? Liberal loons are everywhere. *shaking head in disbelief* If it’s not illegal, heck do it anyway! Shame the suckers and maybe they’ll stay away from your property. At least you and your friends can have some fun with the pests.
Well, I figured I could use the wrist sling shot, with steel ball shots - as they would leave holes in rocks that I hit. But, those pigs? Never even phased them, their hide is so thick! (It is against the law to injure or kill a javelina, here, so I needed to be careful with my choice of weapon.)
I just wanted to scare them away. I even tried a b-b gun - but, no response but a tiny flicker, when the b-b hit.
Wish they would have been too ‘shamed’ to come back. If I were strong enough to dig ten holes 2X4, I might be able to get rid of a whole herd - and ‘wonder’ what happened to those ‘cute little piggies’ that were destroying my place! (with the help of my .38 S & W) LOL!
Sorry to hear about your cousin losing her husband.
My cousin had his daughter look up my phone number on the Internet.
He and his brother are coming to Laughlin, NV in February and would like for us to meet them there.
I will check the school schedule to see if it might be possible.
... We heard about this cello player born in Sarajevo many years ago (Vedran Smailović) who left when he was fairly young to go on to become a well-respected musician, playing with various symphonies throughout Europe. Many decades later, he returned to Sarajevo as an elderly manat the height of the Bosnian War, only to find his city in complete ruins.
I think what most broke this man's heart was that the destruction was not done by some outside invader or natural disasterit was done by his own people. At that time, Serbs were shelling Sarajevo every night. Rather than head for the bomb shelters like his family and neighbors, this man went to the town square, climbed onto a pile of rubble that had once been the fountain, took out his cello, and played Mozart and Beethoven as the city was bombed.
He came every night and began playing Christmas carols from that same spot. It was just such a powerful imagea white-haired man silhouetted against the cannon fire, playing timeless melodies to both sides of the conflict amid the rubble and devastation of the city he loves. Some time later, a reporter traced him down to ask why he did this insanely stupid thing. The old man said that it was his way of proving that despite all evidence to the contrary, the spirit of humanity was still alive in that place.
The song basically wrapped itself around him. We used some of the oldest Christmas melodies we could find, like "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and "Carol of the Bells" (which is from Ukraine, near that region). The orchestra represents one side, the rock band the other, and single cello represents that single individual, that spark of hope.
After someone stole a valuable ceramic figurine of Baby Jesus from a nativity scene in Wellington, Florida, officials took action to keep thieves from succeeding again. An Associated Press report described how they placed a GPS tracking device inside the replacement figurine. When Baby Jesus disappeared again the next Christmas, sheriffs deputies were led by the signal to the thiefs apartment.
There are times when difficult circumstances or personal loss can cause us to feel that Christ has been stolen from our Christmas. How can we find Jesus when life seems to be working against us?
Like a spiritual GPS, Romans 8 guides us to Gods never-failing love and presence with us. We read that the Holy Spirit helps us in our weaknesses and intercedes for us (v.27). We know that God is for us (v.31). And we have this grand assurance: He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? (v.32). Finally, we are reminded that nothing can separate us from Gods love in Christ Jesus (vv.38-39).
Look for Jesus in the manger, on the cross, risen from the dead, and in our hearts. Thats where we can find Jesus at Christmas.
Woo hoo!!! Loved this poem and going to send it on....this is just so true!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!
Good Morning Mayor! May Jesus Christ be our central focus this Christmas! Thanks for starting our day off right!
Polly
So sweet of you to help your friend. Wish you lived close to me...LOL~~
We may put my tree up tomorrow or Saturday....however it works out. My son and DIL are planning to help me because of the troubles I’ve had and have.
Oh my, you make me so ashamed...LOL! I have 2 in each ear. I had the first ones done many years ago. Then years later, I had the second ones. First ones for little diamond studs and the other for matching up to whatever! I am a jewelry collector and love it. No other piercings, no tattoo’s EVER!
"The tears of yesterday don't mean a thing. There is happiness out there for everyone who dares to dream."
Such a pretty opening today, Billie. Susan Boyle sings this song so sweetly, doesn't she?
Top o’ the mornin’ to you, too! :-)
Hey, Lori! How ya doing? I’m getting ready to go out for some errands, etc. Guess you’re like the rest of us...work, work, work,!!
How have you been doing?
How cute that little doggie is - if he’s gonna wait until Santa gets there, in a kid’s mind that will be forever - in ours, only a blink of the eye!
