About time to unwrap the lovely gift from Billie a few years back
whirlwind time of the year. Too busy, eat too much, not enough sleep.. All here is about the same. Following the Browns, Vikings & Ravens this year for FB. The Cavaliers(LeBron) of course for Basketball
Saw a few good movies recently.. Invictus is great.. I predict Golden globe & Oscar nods for Damon, Freeman, Eastwood & the movie. Precious is good also. A "hard" movie . Seeing Avatar tonight.

Great idea, Dolly! Nice to see the movie enjoyment you are experiencing as always. Merry Christmas!!

Christmas For Cowboys
Tall in the saddle we spend Christmas Day, Drivin' the cattle on the snow-covered plains. All of the good gifts given today; Ours is the sky and the wide open range.
Back in the cities, they have diff'rent ways, Football and eggnog and Christmas parades. I'll take the blanket; I'll take the reins; Christmas for cowboys and wide open plains.
A campfire for warmth as we stop for the night; The stars overhead are the Christmas-tree lights, The wind sings a hymn as we bow down to pray; Christmas for cowboys and the wide open range.
It's tall in the saddle we spend Christmas Day, Drivin' the cattle on the snow-covered plains. So many gifts have been opened today; Ours is the sky and the wide open range, It's Christmas for cowboys and wide open plains. ~Steve Weisberg

The King Of Fruits
Present your bodies a living sacrifice, . . . which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1
The durian, a tropical fruit, is often called The King of Fruits. Either you love it or you hate it. Those who love it will do almost anything to get it. Those who hate it wont get near it because of its pungent smell. My wife loves it. Recently, a friend, who was grateful for what my wife had done for her, sent her a box of the finest quality durians. She took great pains to ensure that they were the best.
I asked myself, If we can give the best to a friend, how can we do less for our Lord who gave His very life for us?
The nobleman in Jesus parable in Luke 19 wanted the best from 10 servants to whom he gave money, saying, Do business till I come (v.13). When he returned and asked for an account, he gave the same commendation Well done! to all those who had done what they could with the money entrusted to them. But he called wicked (v.22) the one who did nothing with his money.
The primary meaning of this story is stewardship of what weve been given. To be faithful with what God has given to us is to give Him our best in return. As the master gave money to the servants in the parable, so God has given us gifts to serve Him. It is we who will lose out if we fail to give Him our best.
Give of your best to the Master,
Give Him first place in your heart;
Give Him first place in your service,
Consecrate every part. Grose

Thank you - I need to find (one of) mine now. :)

Awww.....thanks. But, it wouldn’t be half so nice if it weren’t for your “snow” gift that you taught to all of us here. I love seeing all the different snow effects this time of year. For snow-deprived people like me, it’s almost like seeing the real thing. :-)
To: Billie
I like this one too, but the purple ornament is my favorite. This one comes in a real close second. :-)

That picture reminds me of my grandfather. A Colorado horse rancher.

That particular snow gif is the prettiest I've ever seen because it's so realistic - not at all like the uniform tiny white dots covering a graphic, is it? :)
Now look at it with that one animation 'reduced' a couple of times and all of the various sizes put together in different widths and heights so that the snow is even thicker, but still random snowflake sizes. :)

Beautiful opening, Lori, love the poem, too! Leaving again, see you all later! Have a very nice day!

:-) What a wonderful life, living under under the sky on the plains!
I am homesick for the range. I have never lived anywhere even resembling the wide open range, but I am reading a wonderful book by Ted Kerasote "Merle's Door, Lessons From a Freethinking Dog", that was recommended by SnarlinCubBear. It's a biography of one dog's life with his person, Ted, spanning 13 years in the little town of Kelly, Wyoming, at the base of the Grand Tetons. It's about their relationship as they spend their days roaming the Tetons, skiing, river rafting and communing with nature. This book is causing in me a homesickness for a place I've never lived and a yearning for a big golden dog.
Thanks for the book recommendation Snarlin. I am enjoying this story so much! And did you see, Ted has a new book which will be published next year, "Pukka, the Pup After Merle"?
