You realize Americans are not alone in the absolutely insane adoration of individuals whose only talent is hitting, throwing, or catching some sort of ball?

For my part,ALL the PAID atheletes can go pound sand,EVERY one of them!It is insane that millions of people ignore establishing connections with their own family and neighbors except in the very artificial "world of pro sports".

I'd like to see all the cessation of tax monies being used to build stadiums and arenas.

Many families connect through sports. The only one worthy of worship is Jesus but others can be positive role models. Professional athletes can be good role models.

"I'd like to see all the cessation of tax monies being used to build stadiums and arenas. "

And for just a couple of million some corporation gets to name the field - it's the taxpayers who foot 90% of the bill ...

We were talking about these sports as "How many ways can you wing a ball".

Since these started as male sports, I'd say it's a male thing.

Anyone notice that balls are not blue.

Anyone notice that the mouse on your computer has a tail...almost like a sperm...and that newer mouses have a ball to play with...

Actually I find sports to be part of establishing connections with family and neighbors. It’s something to talk about, an experience to share. It’s just another form of entertainment, and entertainment is a pretty normal excuse to gather friends and family for bonding time.

SPOT ON.

Ask most of these morons who their congresscritters and you’ll get a blank stare and a full drool cup.

But ask them the stats of their favorite team or jock and you can’t shut them up.

Any wonder why Western civilization is DOOMED???

Or not. Some of us are capable of deep and adequate connections with our family friends, while enjoying our local sports teams. Sorry that us failing to abide by your narrow and boring view of what matters is bothersome to you. Actually not.

I'd like to see all the cessation of tax monies being used to build stadiums and arenas.

Which is why is ticks me off big time to know that the Pittsburgh Penguins new arena is being built with taxpayers money.

Ed Rendell refused to allow a deal that would have built a large sports complex, complete with a slots casino, hockey arena and several other ameneties.

He had to have his personal associates get the gaming liscence that the developer needed to complete the deal.

Pittsburgh could have had a bigger, better business, at no expense to the taxpayer at all.

But "Fast Eddie" is the master of the corrupt deal. And of course he got his way.
