Human species 'may split in two'

Humanity may split into two sub-species in 100,000 years' time as predicted by HG Wells, an expert has said. Evolutionary theorist Oliver Curry of the London School of Economics expects a genetic upper class and a dim-witted underclass to emerge.

The human race would peak in the year 3000, he said - before a decline due to dependence on technology.

People would become choosier about their sexual partners, causing humanity to divide into sub-species, he added.

The descendants of the genetic upper class would be tall, slim, healthy, attractive, intelligent, and creative and a far cry from the "underclass" humans who would have evolved into dim-witted, ugly, squat goblin-like creatures.

Seems to me they eliminated much humanity by bc and abortion but there were still plenty of dregs left. A never ending supply in fact.

Suppose those eugenicists were right. Suppose the welfare class is destroying civilization. One day they’ll all starve but civilization will be dead too.

Wells was a Fabian socialist and a True Believer, so it was a bit of a surprise to me to find the working-class Morlocks to be bestial and cannibalistic and the Eloi beautiful, ethereal, and delicious. What the heck, it's his story.

Neal Stephenson posited tongue in cheek that it was actually the Morlocks who were worth anything at all. He likened them to today's geeks. Let's see, loveless, unwashed, run everything but not a chance in hell of a date with the Beautiful People...maybe ol' Neal had a point...

I'm an amateur alright. But this has been a resounding theme throughout history. Whether the myths from Hesiod or the novels of Wells and Huxley (even Lawrence Sanders of late) and somehow we have the same prognositic for doomsday scenarios which corrupt investigations and science.

They are interesting and entertaining though....if you aren't the one relegated to the lower caste.

no, the “welfare class” of yesterday will evolve into the middle class, as did the Irish, the Italians and the Jews.

Yes, there is a congenital “low IQ”, but not as much as people think.
A lot of the “low IQ’s” in welfare is due to malnutrition or fetal alcohol syndrome or lead in the water supply. Get them reborn in Christ and the kids will have a chance.
