Are ALL those little fluorescent twirly bulbs full spectrum bulbs?

Well, that’s the likely deal killer for us, we turn ‘em on and off a lot - if we’re not in the room, the lights are off. I could see a real benefit for areas that are lit continuously, like offices, commercial business places and the like.

Yep, hopefully ‘with no appreciable accumulation’.

Heh. At werk they were “going green” and replaced the incandescents in the freezer with CFL’s. Damn things would never light up all the way so they went back to the energy wasters.

No, you have to read the packaging. Look for "daylight spectrum" or maybe "pure white"...

They make "soft white" as well where they try to mach the sick-yellow color of incndescent lights, and they are surprisingly (to me) popular. They also make colored party lights (blue, green, red I've seen, and suspect "black light" as well) and yellow "bug lights" (though I doubt their service life in cold weather-- perhaps if they were left on all the time, which is actually best for all fluorescent lights).

Yes, it seems cold is bad for them unless (a) given time to warm up and (b) left on.

Anywhere I have temp extremes-- appliances, range hood, outdoor fixtures-- I use incandescent. My trailer park uses CFLs for the on-at-dusk-off-at-dawn streetlamps that stand at the front of each lot, and winter always kills a few of 'em.

Heh...time to warm up. They were left on all day and at -20 C they never got brighter than a nite-light.

They’re using the “S” word for tomorrow.

Sunny? They are using that one here too :D

This one leaves a mark, and it should. In a way, I'm glad the POS is alive. Now a lot of dirty laundry can finally be aired.

This may have been posted here a long time ago, but I'd never seen it. Found it on the Krakatoa thread.

“jrgotanewjob” fits nicely in the keywords.

Actually yesterday he was offered two jobs. They’re both part time, both seasonal. But the way things are out there right now, we’ll take ‘em.

Congratulations! This is a lousy time to be starting out. Most likely won’t be sure of being in a real career for a good spell.

Actually, yeah. He’s still working 2 days a week at the mall. The second offer yesterday is seasonal (day time) work at a local farmer’s market type place. They sell a lot of fresh Christmas trees.

The offer last night was to do overnight security at the church during the production.

So, he’ll be a busy boy. But I bet he still gets more sleep than I do.
