Absolutely, Corin. Glad to have some good politics out of VA. You’ve had a depressing few years.

I'm afraid I have to admit my guilt. And I wrote my first FORTRAN program on an IBM 1401 (of course I was only a junior in high school).

What a terrible waste. That was a classic '55 Chevy.

"Not any more", as Inspector Clouseau would say.

For some reason I thought of you when I saw this:

Heh, I guess SirKit’s a plugger, then. I think he still has his slide rule in his desk drawer!

Heh..love both the pictures.

The trolls scheduled not one, but two major meetings today and I just got out.

I don’t want to jinx anything or count any chickens before they hatch, but word on the ground is that this could be even bigger than we think.

Tweets out of the People’s Republic of Arlington are saying exit polls show McDonnell with a 22% lead. To put that in perspective in 2005, Tim Kaine got 74% in Arlington.

And they think I’m going to be able to concentrate for the next two hours...

So how’s NaNo going, since you obviously have nothing else occupying you today?

So I’m enjoying NaNo just fine this year, though this story isn’t anything special, but it’s really making me want to edit and maybe even do something with my 2007 NaNo story. I’m thinking of making January my editing month. Any of you nano or former nano types interested in using peer pressure on each other to do similar stuff?

I figure I’ll try to recruit a few beta reader types this month, give them my story in December with a request to give me thoughts by January, and go from there. Incidentally if anyone is interested in reading and critiquing a fantasy novel starring an English major that I had to draw out family trees to make sure nobody was committing incest, let me know. It’s probably the best thing I’ve written, not promising much.

I’m at 3,143 and will write again tonight. Ironically I have a rehearsal and will miss the election eve party. ‘sokay ‘cause I’d already planned to stay home and watch on tv. But I’ll write for a couple of hours when I get home.

I’m still in the first chapter and may have stumbled onto a subplot last night. Or at least some deep background.

And yeah, I’d love to read your story.

I can send you Clare’s e-mail addy; she might be interested. She could read it while she’s home for Christmas. She’s actually doing some informal editing of a book being written by her roommate’s mother.

Congratulations Corin! A most gratifying landslide win. Looks bigger than George Allen’s victory.

Considering I’m in the throes of my annual resentment toward those who treat NaNo as a race while insisting they *aren’t* treating it as a race, I’m not sure I should even be speaking to you....

But I do need an editing month. So I’d be in for that. I’m within a few chapters of finishing ‘08, and ‘07 is close, too. Both are worth editing, unlike most of myprevious NaNo efforts.

I actually wrote all year this year for once, with very few breaks. This NaNo is a slightly uptempo start on yet another new story instead of the equivalent of a couch potato running a marathon. So there’s that. And I think my story is going to be pretty good. It’s lterary fiction this time around (no magic or inexplicable science or nuffin) with a good mix of serious and not so serious characters and a rotating point of view to keep me on my toes.
