Later On
I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Romans 8:18
It seems there are two kinds of people in this world: those who have an eternal perspective and those who are preoccupied with the present.
One is absorbed with the permanent; the other with the passing. One stores up treasure in heaven; the other accumulates it here on earth. One stays with a challenging marriage because this isnt all there is; another looks for happiness in another mate, believing this life is all there is. One is willing to suffer poverty, hunger, indignity, and shame because of the glory which shall be revealed (Rom. 8:18); another believes that happiness is being rich and famous. Its all a matter of perspective.
Abraham had an other world perspective. Thats what enabled him to give up a piece of well-watered land by the Jordan (Gen. 13). He knew that God had something better for him later on. The Lord told him to look in every direction as far as he could see and then said that his family would someday have it all. What a land grant! And God promised that his descendants would be as numerous as the dust (v.16).
Thats an outlook many people cant understand. They go for all the gusto right now. But Gods people have another point of view. They know that God has something better later on!
Id rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
Id rather be His than have riches untold;
Id rather have Jesus than anything
This world affords today. Miller

That is so beautiful. Isn't that the 'old hymn'? I looked in a real old hymn book I have and it wasn't in there. But I will be humming it today!
Thank you, Mr. Mayor, for a wonderful devotion today.

Thank you for this great devotional . Yes Jaycee. That is the hymn, I'd Rather Have Jesus, that George Beverly Shea made so popular during the Billy Graham Crusade in the 50's. I love it too! Singing here....

Oh my goodness, Polly, I am all teary-eyed now! Thank you so much. I should have remembered George Beverly Shea sang that as much I followed Billy Graham! A beautiful touching hymn!

Oh Jaycee!!! I loved this graphic and the idea of you trying even a McDonalds!!!.....
We started giving Shallie several cans a day of tuna. I know it sounds “ far out” as the hippies used to say, but at this point we are trying anything.
We wrapped her one leg that seems to give her the most pain, in a ace bandage during day hours to help her walk. She seems to be doing better with that.
We are taking day by day with her...

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Its Our Turn!
I’ve a serious challenge for you all
to cry out an angry patriot’s call
Make a timely difference in the end
throw out those who ought be binned
The best we see in a distant place
fall in struggle before a brutal race
Yet here, the least demand our rights
and would deny our right to fight
We need to see that the truth be told
honor those who fell outside the fold
We must keep that for which the better died
and for which the shallow take with lies
A halfhearted battle here at home we wage
some of us feel the patriot’s honest rage
Our precious kids died to save this land
and the DC socialists use slight of hand
If we lose this country by avoiding fuss
we have dishonored those who fell for us
A debt is owed, and must be paid in full
and we must throw put the political bull
It is up to us to stand, and defend this land
and remember the fallen, that honored band
We owe them a debt so deep and so true
and we must complete what they died to do
