First, Congress addressed the economic crisis with a stimulus bill that produced a crushing national debt and the highest unemployment rate in a quarter century. Then it developed the "Cash for Clunkers" program that ran out of cash in seven days and encouraged Americans to turn in domestic clunkers for Japanese automobiles. Now Congress and the president are preparing to use their management skills to take over health care services.
In the care of a fellow human being, there are a few concepts that every young physician learns. Regrettably, those who would take control of medical services have demonstrated a woeful ignorance of these tenets. Before Americans relinquish their freedom of choice to ObamaCare, they should ponder these 12 basic principles for doctors and health care legislators:
1. First, do no harm. No patient should come away from a doctor's visit damaged because of the intervention. The most advanced medical care delivery system in the world should not be irreversibly injured by a Congress with limited understanding of medical practice and a dismal 22 percent approval rating (CBS poll, July 12).
2. Physician, heal thyself. A physician should clean up his own act before he attempts to direct the lives of others. Since major contributors to the cost of medicine are smokers and lawyers, does the country really want a smoking lawyer as the physician-in-chief?
3. Do your homework! Lawmakers who do not care enough to read the 1,000-page bills they vote on do not deserve the nation's trust. A president who suggests painkillers as an alternative to a pacemaker and implies that surgeons are cranking out tonsillectomies based on reimbursement rates is demonstrating an ignorance of the facts and insulting the team that he wishes to manage.
4. Keep your cool. A panicked physician inspires as much confidence as...

It is beyond woeful ignorance. It is scornful, arrogant, and rabid antipathy towards those tenents.
"Doctors take the Hippocratic Oath too seriously, as an imperative to do everything for the patient regardless of the cost or effects on others" - Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel
Lets not forget that Social Security and Medicare are running out of money. A ponzi scheme if you will.
Now the dimoKKKRATS want to nationalize health care and turn it into the biggest ponzi scheme ever. They will never get my support for something so stupid.
First do no harm but he attacks 60 million smokers in the country!
Now that is priceless.
My goal was to offer my perspective as a doctor to warn Americans of the perils of HR 3200. The more they learn about this irresponsible legislation, the less they like it.

Dear Governor Perry,
On March 30, 2009 the Texas House of Representatives passed HCR 50 affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment.
You have publicly supported this bill, and stated that attorney generals from all over the union could be getting ready to sue the US Government.
We are asking you to take the lead.
We are asking you to order the Texas Attorney General to publicly begin working on a law suit under Article IV, Ninth, and Tenth Amendment of the Constitution.
We are asking you to protect the citizens of Texas that we will not stand for government controlled healthcare in our state.
Under your leadership we can effectively kill the proposal of this administration and allow Texas to be a state free from socialism and collectivism.
Be the voice of reason in the national debate and allow Texans the ability to solve the problems of our state.
Thank you,

Facts about the 10th Amendment:
The Tenth Amendment (Amendment X) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791. The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitutions principle of Federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states or the people.
HCR 50 HAS PASSED THE HOUSE 99-36!
Affirming that the State of Texas claims sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States over all powers not otherwise enumerated and granted to the federal government by the U.S. Constitution, serving notice to the federal government to cease and desist certain mandates, and providing that certain federal legislation be prohibited or repealed.
Take Action! Before it is too late!
If we can draw this out long enough for people to see what a disaster “cash for clunkers” really is - it’ll help defeat the mess...
