Sweet, I love lighthouses!

I loved you Rose poem the other day...I think you were gone that day afterwards...forget the correct title but the poem was such a knock-out. Several of us loved it, L.J.

There are some neat lighthouses in the Carolinas and there are tons of them in New England, and I love them, too.

Once we were eating lunch near the Portland (ME) Light and noticed two people painting it from the parking lot. I went up to met them and get a closer look. They were fun! Two old ladies traveling in an old VW Bus with the objective of making oil paintings of as many lighthouses as possible. It sounded like too much fun and they looked like they were having it.

Ah, An Ordinary Rose. An ordinary rose struggling to be seen. Take note, kiddoreeno!

This morning, I was looking through some old magazines that were forwarded to me after my dad passed away. One of them, is called Good Old Days. In the October 2008 issue was a beautiful song, that was written 96 years ago, by D. Erwin Force.

I couldn't find it anywhere on the net, so I typed it out to share with everyone. Hope you all find that it tugs at your heart-strings, as it does mine!

"Memory Of A Rose (This Rose I'll Always Cherish)"

I have a rose all faded and old,
I've kept for years and years,
To night again I bring it forth
and view it through my tears.

It's sweet perfume still faintly clings,
And loving thoughts renew,
Bringing memories of other days,
Of roses and of you.

Chorus:
This rose I'll always cherish
And keep in mem'ry of you,
For you gave it to me as a token of love,
And said that you'd be true.

As I see it now with tear-dimmed eyes,
My thoughts go back to thee
And that glorious night so long ago
When you gave this rose to me.

Again the roses are in bloom,
In memory of thee,
And as I breathe their sweet perfume,
It brings you back to me.

This faded flow'r I'll always keep,
To me there's none so fair,
For it seems to me but yesterday,
'Twas blooming in your hair.

Chorus:
This rose I'll always cherish
And keep in mem'ry of you,
For you gave it to me as a token of love,
And said that you'd be true.

As I see it now with tear-dimmed eyes,
My thoughts go back to thee
And that glorious night so long ago
When you gave this rose to me.

AIN'T

He was just a little boy,
On a week's first day.
Wandering home from Bible school,
And dawdling on the way.

He scuffed his shoes into the grass;
He even found a caterpillar.
He found a fluffy milkweed pod,
And blew out all the 'filler.'

A bird's nest in a tree overhead,
So wisely placed up so high.
Was just another wonder,
That caught his eager eye.

A neighbor watched his zig zag course,
And hailed him from the lawn;
Asked him where he'd been that day
And what was going on.

'I've been to Bible School ,'
He said and turned a piece of sod.
He picked up a wiggly worm replying,
'I've learned a lot about God.'

'M'm very fine way,' the neighbor said,
'for a boy to spend his time.'
'If you'll tell me where God is,
I'll give you a brand new dime.'

Quick as a flash the answer came!
Nor were his accents faint.
'I'll give you a dollar, Mister,
If you can tell me where God ain't.'

unknown

Have a great week!

Psalm:91 The Angels are watching over you and me.

God Bless!
