REST IN PEACE, FALLEN BROTHER!

Capt. John Tinsley, USA, KIA Afghanistan 12AUG2009

I have fought a good fight,
I have finished my course,
I have kept the faith.
2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)

God Of Our Fathers

Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in peace!
We who remain hold you in high honor.
Rest, fallen brother, in this sacred precinct;
We who remain keep this place sacred.
Rest, fallen brother, among these, your comrades;
We who remain keep the watch.
Rest, fallen brother, among these who answered the Nation’s call;
We who remain press the fight forward in your name.
Rest, fallen brother, lay down thy burden;
We who remain have taken up the torch.
Rest in Peace, fallen brother, rest in eternal peace!

ANGEL TRUMPETS

These are my friend's Angel Trumpets!
These pics are dated last October.
Of course, hers are large and live
outside year around. Just die down in
in winter and come back in Spring!
I think they are mighty pretty!

Seeing that delicious looking chocolate cake made me eat another one of those Hershey’s Midnights. Aren’t you ashamed? LOL!

Does your’s live outside year around? Dolly said hers have to come in winter. They get so large, I don’t see how you could bring them in. It gets as cold in Tennessee as it does in Ohio where Dolly lives, except I think she gets a lot more snow than we do!

Are yours the peach color? I didn’t know if they came in different colors or not.

We had our Red Hat Luncheon at the Piccadilly Cafeteria today. One of the ladies chose Salmon Patties and they looked delicious. My husband and I used to go there a lot and he loved their Salmon Patties. I prefer the ones I made.

By the way, I had liver and onions....some will say Ewwww! But I never fix that anymore just for me and it was really delicious! I also had pea salad and brocolli with cheese, a large roll AND custard pie, water and coffee! Shame on me! But I passed up dinner tonight and had a candy bar and a small coke.

I’ve got one of the peachy-pink ones. It gets HUGE. Usually about 8 feet tall and about 12 wide. It is loaded with fragrant blooms, sometimes a hundred or more at a time. They only last a day and they make beautiful cut flowers but they don’t last any time at all. I’ve got a bunch of yellow ones at work. Think I’m going to bring one of those and a Confederate Rose home and put in the same bed with my A.T. and my marijuana leaf hibiscus, otherwise known as Texas star.

Flower ping :)

Hibiscus is one of my favorites. They are so beautiful! I have pictures in my camera of my lilies when they were blooming so beautiful and for my potted geraniums and petunias but I just haven’t gotten them onto the computer yet!
I may try to do that tomorrow.

I love hibiscus too. :)

It’s only slowed down because we’ve gotten 5-6 inches of rain in the last couple of days and fall gardening has been put on hold. We’re the lucky ones. A neighboring town got 10 inches in a couple of hours. Four of that in less than one hour, and it’s been raining off and on for the last two days since.

Nice seeing you too!

Liver and Onions? Goodness, what memories that brings back! (And who could have memories about liver and onions, you ask.)

When my children lived at home, as a tradition for their birthday, they got to choose what ever they wanted for dinner.

My son *always* chose liver and onions. I would cook about a third pound of bacon and save the drippings, slice two onions, and brown them in the pan, drain and remove them, then brown the liver (dredged in flour).

When the liver was cooked, I would remove it from the pan, and add flour and cream, making a ‘roux’ or white sauce with the drippings. I would cut the liver into small pieces, and add to the ‘gravy’ - and serve it over steamed rice, onions on the side.

To this day (at age 46), that is still his favorite dinner.

Its something we don’t have often but I think its good for you occasionally. I used to fix it too, yorkie, and frankly I think what I fixed was much better than at the Cafeteria!
Yours is similar to what I fixed, except I just cut my liver into individual servings, etc. You don’t often find kids who like it early in life. You have a very smart son!!

I bet if you told your son about our little conversation, he would start craving it right now!

Hope you have had a nice day friend!
