The midnight twilight turned out to be too much for a couple of out-of-state visitors who wanted to be rescued after spending a single night in the Bush this month, Alaska State Troopers said Wednesday.
Troopers say they got a report of an emergency locator beacon registered to Washington, D.C., resident William Calomiris, 27, that was activated near Pungokepuk Lake, 20 miles northeast of Twin Hills, about 8:30 p.m. July 1. An air taxi service had dropped him and Adam Grunstra, also 27, of Bethesda, Md., off at the lake on June 30 for a seven-day stay, troopers said.
Troopers alerted the Alaska Air National Guard, the U.S. Coast Guard and then diverted their own Dillingham-based floatplane that was in the area to head to the scene and check things out.
"Calomiris and Grunstra claimed that they had been sunburned,"

Those cosmos really got those guys adventurous LOL
A-Mor-e...!
Wait, is that a bug? I think I was just bit by a bug.
And it is really sunny out here, too. I am missing my beauty sleep.
You have bags under your eyes.
Hit the rescue button!
Oh, I scratched a nail!
I’ll bet they’re college grads who could write goopy ad copy all day but forgot whatever marginal science their liberal arts education required them to take.
Last year, we took our family on a cruise to Alaska.
My kids all know how much of Alaska we saw on our cruise. We barely saw any of it, and we covered a lot of territory.
My 12 year old daughter now shakes her head about drilling in Alaska.
She said that kids in her class thought that drilling in ANWR would destroy all of Alaska. She kept on trying to tell them how big Alaska is and that ANWR is only a very small portion of it, but the kids just didn’t get it.
My 15 yos swears they HAVE to be homosexual.
Captain! Captain, the stars have all gone out!
Lt., how many times do I have to tell you, the stars only turn on when the sun is turned off?
Awww Geeez..
Yep. Scares most of the country-club set, too.
This is hysterical. I bet these guys didn’t vote for President Bush, or for VP Sarah.
Fools
Drama queens.
When my son first went to ALaska (fished out of Kodiak for two summers)...I kept reminding him that just because he was raised in the woods in So IN, didn’t mean he knew how to manipulate in Alaska....”Don’t be bear meat”
The first night there they pitched their tent in a beautiful valley under a gorgeous view of the mountains. The next morning he woke to the sound of loud grunting and snorting right outside their tent....
He said all he could remember was me telling him to stay away from the bears....Sheepishly he looked out of the flap of his tent to see a dusting of snow and the carabou and elk pawing the ground, snorting and pawing the ground to unearth their breakfast.
The next night they slept on a clift overlooking the ocean....a half dozen eagles perched on the tree next to their tent greeting them in the morning....Quite a thrill for a young hoosier....Today we have a pair nesting near our property.
So you really did find your daughter in the cabbage patch! I thought my mom was kidding.
Really cute.
They probably just ran out of brie.
LOL!
Did you fail the double entendre lesson?
Mountain men don't have "partners".
That is because the people who posted that on every damn thread have been informed that it quit being funny years ago.
