Fission and quarks figure into quirky case
It's not every day that disputes over particle physics leads to assault charges.
But that's what happened when Jason Everett Keller, 40, joined a conversation about quantum physics in South San Francisco in March.
Keller was accused of attacking Stephan Fava while Fava and his friend were discussing physics in the Bay Area town.
The charges didn't stick, however, as Keller has been acquitted by a San Mateo County jury.
The verdict is still out string theory, however, so there's no indication that physics-related violence will abate any time soon. Related Stories Jackson West would love to see the Large Hadron Collider geeks fight the Stanford Linear Accelerator nerds in a bareknuckle brawl.
Think there's no such thing as a homeless physicist? Here's where theoretical physics wunderkind Garrett Lisi sleeps at night.

She might be a homeless physicist, but she still knows what matters.
Those “strange quarks” AKA “sideways quark” and their values of “strangeness”, you know..., the “second-generation quark”, along with that first “strange particle”, and those kaons and mesons, along with the “up quarks” and “down quarks” — have been known to cause quite a few altercations.
People really need to learn to control themselves, when “quarks” come into the conversation... LOL...
These homeless physicists need to hang tough and hold on. Help is on the way. Baracko will be setting up programs to retrain them to become community organizers.
I was going to offer her a home, but I googled it first. Garret is a “he”.
parsy, the good samaritan
A 40 year old skatebaorder?
Kids, major in engineering or biochemistry.
No strings attached?
Of course not. I was even willing to undo her strings.

Ah, a new string theory.
The verdict is still out on string theory, however, so there's no indication that physics-related violence will abate any time soon.
