A Fair Trade
I rejoice at Your Word as one who finds great treasure. —Psalm 119:162

Scott and Mary Crickmore poured 15 years of their lives into helping to translate the New Testament in the Maasina dialect. It was for the Fulani tribe in the West African nation of Mali.

After the initial draft, Mary visited nearby villages and read it to people. She sat in huts with a group of men or women listening to them discuss what they understood. That helped her to make sure the words they were using in the translation were accurate and clear.

Some people would think that the Crickmores’ sacrifice was too great—giving up their comfortable lifestyle, changing their diet to mush and rice, and living in less-than-ideal circumstances for those 15 years. But the Crickmores say it was “a fair trade,” because now the Fulani people have the Word of God in a language they can read.

The psalmist delighted in God’s Word. He stood in awe of it, rejoiced over it, loved it, and obeyed it (Ps. 119:161-168). He found great peace and hope in the Word.

The Fulani people are now able to discover the “great treasure” (v.162) of God’s Word. Would you agree with the Crickmores that any effort and sacrifice to get the Bible to others is “a fair trade”?

The Bible brings great hope and peace,
Beyond all earthly measure;
So we must share it with all those
Who don’t possess this treasure. —Sper

One measure of our love for God is what we’re willing to do to share His Word with others.

Good Morning Mayor. Thank you for taking the time to bring ODB to us here at Amy’s Place faithfully too! In a sense you are our “translator” as are the Crickmore’s in the devotional.

Early Morning Blessings,

Polly

A very refreshing and sweet Daily Bread lesson this morning. Thank you for always providing God’s word in early morning.
God Bless you this day in all you do.

We’ve had a blustery pouring rain here since yesterday afternoon and everything outside is a mess this morning. Tree limbs in the yard and wet leaves everywhere! Will wait till it dries and then try to use the blower for the patio and carport! Ooooh, the work!

Good morning ladies, it is always my pleasure to posting ODB.
Me, a translator? Never thought like that. Just a messenger is all.
Rain here over night too but no damage like you Jaycee.

Wow, sounds like you had a bad windy storm! In Los Angeles we have had a perpetual “ June Gloom” overcast without sunshine for days. I rather like it though for a change. Summer is on it’s way and we will have plenty of sun and heat soon enough!

Your welcome.
Kind of a working weekend. The rain delayed me finishing a roof coating job.

Well, pooh! I visualized you resting and grilling and just
hanging out with family!

Hope this project doesn’t take the whole weekend.

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
