The Republican Party should start considering actually supporting (and urging) former Vice President Cheney to run for president in 2012
So far, Cheney is the only major Republican leader who has seemed eager or interested in taking on a popular Democratic president.
Like it or not, popular or not, the Republicans need someone who is willing to fight.
True, Cheney will be in his early 70s in 2012 and has a history of heart problems, but that is no older than Dole in 96 or McCain in 08.
The Republicans could do a lot worse than electing Cheney in 2012 with a young conservative as his Vice President ready to run at the head of a ticket in 2016.
I wish.
He’s making more sense than any one else out there right now. He has freaking cojones. He would have my vote!
You wish.....for Obama to win?
For both major party candidates to be pro-gay marriage?
He can have my heart I would give my life for him to keep this country free and safe
Joe the Plumber had more fight in him than the WHOLE GOP last election cycle. The GOP is convinced it has to fight the Dems with both hands tied behind its back and blindfolded.
I the republicans want to pull off anything like they did after carter’s first term, they are going to need someone with a spine and a pair
I wrote in Cheney in 2008.

Presidential comparison quiz
If George W. Bush had made a joke at the expense of the Special
Olympics, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given Tony Blair a set of inexpensive and
useless (to Tony Blair’s UK video formatting) DVDs, when Tony Blair
had given him a thoughtful and historically significant gift, would
you have approved?
If George W. Bush had given the Queen of England an iPod containing
videos of his speeches, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia, would you
have approved?
If George W. Bush had visited Austria and made reference to the
non-existent “Austrian language,” would you have brushed it off as a
minor slip?
If George W. Bush had filled his cabinet and circle of advisers with
people who cannot seem to keep current on their income taxes, would
you have approved?
If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major
corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so,
would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had sent Air Force One on a joy ride, publicity
stunt over New York City, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had traveled around Europe, appologizing for, and
declaring his shame for the United States, would you have approved?
If George W. Bush had only spoken words written for him by someone
else, and always read them from a teleprompter would you have
approved?
If George W. Bush had promised transparence, then told congress to
pass the largest spending bill in history without reading it, would
you have approved?
If George W. Bush had proposed to triple the national debt, which had
taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you
have approved?
If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10
years, would you have approved?
So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant
and impressive?
Can’t think of anything? Don’t worry. He’s done all this in 100 days
— so you’ll have three years and nine-and-a-half months to come up
with an answer. Oh yeah, and then there’s that genius, Biden.....
By the way, how’s that hopey, changey thing working out for ya’?
Well, and both of those worked out so well for us.
Look, I love Cheney, but that window of opportunity has closed.
Didn't Dole and McCain lose?
Oh, welcome to FR- good home page.
That said, I think you're still right. It's probably not going to happen.
I wish it was legitimate possibility.
A: He wouldn’t
B: If he did I’d work for him like I’ve never worked before!
C: The press would run specials every hour on heart disease
While I don't disagree, the question is can the GOP do better?
Sadly, he doesn’t have the health for it. I would be happy however to see him campaign on Palin’s behalf.
