I see that you still haven’t answered my earlier question.

Does the church you attend profess/recite the Nicene Creed? A simple yes or no will suffice.

No, and probably the only one that ever did was the Episcopal Church where I attended until I was about 13. Most of the churches used the Apostle’s Creed.

No, I haven’t heard it in church for many years.

Even the late and unlamented Luther venerated Mary and believed in the transfiguration.

I suspect the original post may have intended to use "transubstantiation" instead of "transfiguration" as the holy Transfiguration is undeniably scriptural, being found in all of the Synopic Gospels, and is celebrated as a festival by Roman Catholics, Lutherans, Anglicans, and Orthodox.

When you are your own Pope, nothing else matters. The only thing driving one’s beliefs are the contents of one’s stomach, the softness of one’s bed, the condition of the weather, the emotions of one’s spouse, or the outcome of the horse race at the track.

Some of the most orthodox of Lutherans will admit that the absurd extreme of sola scriptura that you have articulated very well is indeed the Achilles' heel of Lutheranism.

***Yah, yah, yah. Same old same old, Mark.***

Christianity is 2000 years old. How old is your particular church?

The Apostle’s Creed was never canon. The Nicene Creed was 1700 years ago. Do you have a more modern version that you prefer?

Appreciate the post. There are many who claim sola scriptura except on those particular Scriptural verses which go against their personal beliefs.

It’s 2000 years old, it’s a Christian church.

***It’s 2000 years old, it’s a Christian church.***

It is not 2000 years old. Elim was founded at Hornell, New York, by Ivan and Minnie Spencer in 1924. In 1951 the Spencers moved the school to its current site in Lima. Elim Gospel Church, an interdenominational Full Gospel church, was established near the Elim campus in 1988

Your church is 20 years old, not 2000. Its roots go back 80 years, which puts you guys arguably older than Dr. E.’s cult which began in 1937.

Regardless, the fullness of Christ is not found in either location or group. 1 John 4:
1
1 Beloved, do not trust every spirit but test the spirits to see whether they belong to God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
2
This is how you can know the Spirit of God: every spirit that acknowledges Jesus Christ come in the flesh be longs to God,
3
and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus 2 does not belong to God. This is the spirit of the antichrist that, as you heard, is to come, but in fact is already in the world.

We know the ones who do not acknowledge Jesus, but prate as if they do. Their posts show them truly, though.

2 John:
6
For this is love, that we walk according to his commandments; 4 this is the commandment, as you heard from the beginning, in which you should walk.
7
Many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh; such is the deceitful one and the antichrist. 5
8
Look to yourselves that you 6 do not lose what we worked for but may receive a full recompense.
9
Anyone who is so “progressive” 7 as not to remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God; whoever remains in the teaching has the Father and the Son.
10
8 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him in your house or even greet him;
11
for whoever greets him shares in his evil works.

We bring you the Gospel of Jesus the Christ. Whose gospel do you preach? Not Jesus; that is apparent. It is not too late; your churches are recent innovations of men. But yours souls are immortal.

The physical church is made with brick and stone. The spiritual is church wherever two or more gather in His name. It is made up of lively stones, a priesthood of all believers whom God has called and anointed as His own.

Rome insists the truth is within its gaudy edifices. Yet the fruits of Rome are soft and decaying.

As God wills.

My church was a Baptist church for most of its years. We became affiliated with Elim 25 years ago, but until that time it was a Baptist Church. You and your ilk have no right calling US cultists. What a laugh. You’ve been in one for how many years now? LOL.

We also have the gospel of Jesus Christ and so does Elim. They have done more to promote the gospel and send out missionaries to foreign nations than most. You really don’t know what you’re talking about, Mark.

***The physical church is made with brick and stone. The spiritual is church wherever two or more gather in His name.***

What do you know of His Name? Your cult has been taking the Christ out of Christianity since 1937. Luke 6:
46
“Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ but not do what I command?
47
15 I will show you what someone is like who comes to me, listens to my words, and acts on them.
48
That one is like a person building a house, who dug deeply and laid the foundation on rock; when the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it because it had been well built.
49
But the one who listens and does not act is like a person who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, it collapsed at once and was completely destroyed.”

Your foundation is in Machen and Calvin and is of sand. You rail against me when I post the words of Jesus in either of the Sermons.

***It is made up of lively stones, a priesthood of all believers whom God has called and anointed as His own.***

I don’t think that you guys believe in the Christ of the Bible that gave the keys to Peter. You keep a misunderstanding of Paul near and dear to your hearts and when corrected, back up into the OT. There is no Gospel in the WCF and no Gospel in the OPC.

See what I mean? Your church, by your own admission, because of the change in beliefs is only 25 years old. Not 2000.

***You and your ilk have no right calling US cultists.***

Seems to fit the definition.

***What a laugh. You’ve been in one for how many years now? LOL.***

Just shy of 2000 years. Since Pentecost, actually. We’ve seen the cults come and we’ve seen them go over the millennia. And a lot of otherwise good people go down with them.
