Wake-Up Music
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. — Colossians 3:16

In a suburb of Nairobi, Kenya, a group of international refugees has been singing songs that they hope will wake up their homeland. According to the BBC, the group Waayah Cusub has been enjoying extensive airplay on radio stations and television channels by using bold lyrics to address social issues. One of the musicians says, “We are not happy with what is happening back home; in fact we have recorded a thought-provoking song that we hope will bring our leaders back to their senses.”

Long before Waayah Cusub began using songs to call for an end to social pain and violence, God taught Moses to use music in a bold and provocative way. Knowing that His people’s sinful inclinations would distract them when they began to enjoy the prosperity of the Promised Land (Deut. 31:21), God told Moses to teach them the song of chapter 32. It is a shocking song of warning, designed to get the attention of those who would forget God and fill their lives with trouble.

Could our wise and loving God be repeating that strategy with us? Is there a psalm, a hymn, or a spiritual song that is calling us back to His faithfulness and amazing grace? What song might He be using to get under the radar of our natural defenses and renew our hearts today?

Come, Thou fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise. —Robinson

Where words fail, music speaks. —Hans Christian Andersen

Dolly, I hope your mother feels better today, and you get some well deserved rest. (Maybe you weren’t supposed to go to Notre Dame today.)

I haven’t seen any of those movies - I used to keep up with them all. Relax and enjoy a quiet Sunday.

Thank you, Meg! Those are azaleas, aren't they?
I wish they would grow here on the high desert.
You are blessed to have time with your son!

Enjoy your Sunday!

Today We Celebrate

Cherry Cobbler Day
Cherry Mixture:
2 cans Oregon Tart Cherries in water, drained, reserve liquid from both cans
In a pan combine:
Cherry liquid
½ c of sugar (Author's note..Most recipes call for
1-1/2 cups of sugar,..adjust to your taste)
3-4 tablespoons of cornstarch (depending on preferred
thickness) Bring to slow boil, stirring constantly
Once mixture begins to thicken, remove from heat, add
cherries, mix well, being careful not to mash up cherries. Pour cherry mixture into oven-safe dish

Topping:
1 - 1½ cups packed brown sugar
1 cup flour (Author uses cake flour)
1 cup quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Mix with fork, then spread evenly on top of the cherries.
Bake @ 350, until bubbly, starting to brown.

Pack Rat Day

In keeping with the intent of Pack Rat Day,
here are some Do's and Don't's:
Don't clean your room, basement, garage or any other
area today.
Don't discard anything today...It may be valuable.
Don't even empty the trash today. You might have
accidentally thrown out something useful.
Do keep an eye out for useful stuff being discarded by
others.
Do go to garage and rummage sales. They can be pack rat
gold mines.
Do look around your belongings and be thankful for what you
have.
Do spend time thinking of uses for your things.
Justification for saving is satisfying.

I think the ones in my opening are Azaleas..My thank yous are Rhododendrons. (All the same family)..
I mostly see Azaleas here.. I had tham all along a glass wall in the Dallas area..It takes a lot of peat moss to grow them in. I had a raised bed that was all peat moss.

My daughter in law is having 50 people to a shower for church friends this afteroon..That is why she wasn’t here, too..
I, of course, loved staying up with my son and talking til 2am..I had forgotten that he is a night owl, too..My daughter and I stay up all night ..*grin*
I did not get to sleep til 3..Nap coming up..
I feel blessed indeed that he stayed last night.
