Good evening, Lonestar and Weinie.

Horses are such magnificient animals.
I admire them for their beauty and their strength. They are so powerful.

I looked thru the bird sites and could not find a graphic that looked like the hawk you posted.

Birds are so interesting. There are so many different kinds .... so many different colors.

Great poem, graphic (#1221). Thanks. Beautiful, strong animals. I was groom at race tracks for a couple of summers during my college days.

Thank you so much, PGalt. I am so crazy about horses; I wouldn't have minded being a groom at race tracks. :) My husband grew up with horses and I was so excited to have one of my own, but I enjoyed brushing him almost as much as riding!

I enjoy all the breeds, but we've always had Quarterhorses. They're pretty much the horse of choice here in Texas - good "cowponies" and for roping, rodeoing, and just Western Pleasure horses.

One of my favorite threads at The Finest (I posted the link so many times I think people got tired of it! LOL) was all about horses - a few different kinds of breeds that I knew about, like these:

Clydesdales

The Lipizzaner Stallions

Tennessee Walkers

Okay - got a little carried away. LOL!

Love FishHawk's feather painting!

And I just ate a big slice of that apple pie (with ice cream). Yummmm!

Fish Hawk sent me the Feather Paintings but I don’t think that he painted them. I thought they would look good for Native American Day.

Most of the time, I forget to check the Holidays. When I check them, I just pick and choose. For some of them, I don’t feel like finding something to post.

I started riding the stationary bike again last week. Trying to lose about 10 lbs so I skipped the apple pie tonight. ;^ )

Lots of beautiful horses posted today.

I’ve never been around horses, well, I have bet on a few. My mother always loved the Appaloosa.

Making The Cut
[Jesus] said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” —Matthew 4:19

Every year, high-school seniors apply to their favorite universities and then watch the mailbox for the letter announcing their acceptance.

It was different for teens in New Testament times. Jewish boys would often attend rabbinical schools until age 13. Then only the best and brightest would be chosen to “follow” the local rabbi. This small, select group of disciples would go where he went and eat what he ate—modeling their lives after the rabbi. Those who didn’t make the cut would pick up a trade like carpentry, sheep-herding, or fishing.

Guys like Simon, Andrew, James, and John hadn’t made the cut. So instead of following the local rabbi, they were down by the docks, knee-deep in the family business. It’s interesting that Jesus sought out the men the local rabbi had rejected. Instead of targeting the best and brightest, Jesus offered His invitation, “Follow Me,” to ordinary run-of-the-mill fishermen. What an honor! They would become followers of the ultimate Rabbi.

Jesus extends the same honor to you and me—not because we are the best or brightest, but because He needs ordinary people like us to model His life and to lovingly rescue people on His behalf. So, follow Him and let Him make something of your life!

As followers of Jesus
Who love Him from the heart,
We may be ordinary,
But we’ve been set apart. —Sper

Even the ordinary and the outcast can make the cut to follow Jesus.

Mary’s Lamb

Think carefully about
What you will be reading.

Mary! Had a little Lamb,
Its fleece was white as snow.
And everywhere that Mary went,
The Lamb was sure to go.

It followed her to school each day,
T’wasn’t even in the rule.
It made the children laugh and play,
To have a Lamb at school.

And then the rules all changed one day,
Illegal it became;
To bring the Lamb of God to school,
Or even speak His Name!

Every day got worse and worse,
And days turned into years.
Instead of hearing children laugh,
We heard gun shots and tears.

What must we do to stop the crime,
That’s in our schools today?
Let’s let the Lamb come back to school,
And teach our kids to pray!

If you agree, please pass this on.
It is said that 86% of Canadian,
American & British people believe in God.
Why don’t we just tell the other 14%
To be quiet and sit down????
