A retired ice cream seller is celebrating today after living in the same flat for a century.
The 107-year-old moved from Italy to the flat above the ice cream parlour his father ran when he was seven and has remained there for 100 years.
Alfonso De Marco was born near the southern Italian city of Cassino in 1902 before joining his father Guiseppe in 1909 in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
The great-great grandfather went on to run a number of successful parlours of his own until retiring in 1973.
He was offered the chance to live with one of his three daughters; Pierina Caira, 78, Elisa Fieldwick, 74, and Anita Dipilla, 62, seven years ago - but turned them all down.
'I love it here, it is my home. I could have moved somewhere else but I have never wanted to.
'My daughters have asked me to move in with them, but I am happy here, he says.
'The street has changed a lot since I was a boy. I remember seeing horses pulling carts up and down this street, and smelling chestnuts being roasted.

More power to him.
God be with him.
Wow he looks good. Robust and strong looking.
Good story.
Who wouldn’t live forever being above an ice cream shop! ;)
As long as he’s happy.
Amazing
Now I see muslims rioting up and down this street, and smelling cars be roasted...
Here’s one for everyone ... just think of ALL the money this guy has saved in mortgage payments and rent that he would have otherwise had to pay by being the semi-nomad that most Americans are.
