Russian doctors find tree growing in man's lung

MOSCOW, April 13 (RIA Novosti) - Surgeons in Russia's Urals Region were staggered to find a 5-centimeter high spruce growing inside a man's lung, the Komsomolskaya Pravda daily reported on Monday.
The discovery was made while Artyom Sidorkin, 28, from the Urals city of Izhevsk, was undergoing surgery.
Sidorkin had complained of extreme pain in his chest and had been coughing up blood, doctors suspected cancer.
"I blinked three times and thought I was seeing things," Izhevsk surgeon Vladimir Kamashev told the paper.
Medical staff believe Sidorkin had somehow inhaled a seed, which later sprouted inside his lung. The spruce, which was touching the man's capillaries and causing severe pain, was removed.
"It was very painful. But to be honest I did not feel any foreign object inside me," Sidorkin said.
I’m working on a clever reply to that.
I’ll be thinking about it as I fall asleep.
If I have time I’ll post it tomorrow AM
You sure?
My Mom always said if I don't clean my ears I'll have potatoes growing out to them. I'm sure she knows best.
LOLOLOL
Neat. I am sure the man was relieved that it wasn’t lung cancer.
No a spruce in the lung doesn't make much sense. A eucalyptus plant would be more practical.
I briefly considered a redwood in the groin area, but the seed is way too big. A mustard seed might work though.
Ok, I'm up too late.
“My name is the Lorax, and I speak for the trees.”
“And I speak for Men, and human Opportunity.”
In other news, the Teleprompter administration is suing for an injunction on the surgery, demanding it be reversed and all treatment frozen since the proper environmental impact studies were not performed and permission received from the dozen or so government agencies claiming jurisdiction.
Once all fees are paid and carbon offsets purchased, permission may be given for the surgery to be performed in the next 36-48 months.
I’m sure he was incredibly relieved. What I don’t understand, though, is how it grew without sunlight. Isn’t it completely dark inside the lungs?
Well anyway, I’m glad they got it out. :)
So weird that it can grow in total darkness.
The seed contains the nutrients needed to grow up out of the ground, light isn’t needed until later.
THE ATTACK HAS BEGUN!
THE TREE HUGGERS WERE RIGHT!
GAIA IS GOING TO KILL US ALL!!!

{{shudder}}
you’ve got something there, look at the previous thread.
tree cuts house in half.
they are getting their revenge.
They should use this on an episode of House.
Dunno but if somebody posts Rush lyrics, I’m gonna go medieval....;-D
I’m calling BS. Trees need sunlight to grow. And judging from the picture, this wasn’t just some sprout. If they did find this in his lung, it’s because he inhaled it.
