INDIANAPOLIS (Map, News) - Police in Indianapolis say a 69-year-old man is the second person to die of injuries suffered in a sword fight with a younger relative.
Authorities say Adolf Stegbauer died Monday, four days after an argument escalated into the fight with 39-year-old Christopher Rondeau.
Police said Stegbauer's death had been ruled a homicide.
Stegbauer's 77-year-old sister-in-law, Franziska, was fatally stabbed while trying to break up the fight.

http://www.una.edu/faculty/takeuchi/DrT_Jpn_Culture_files/Nihon_to_files/SwordLawLetter.htm The Japanese Sword Law
In order to legally own a sword in Japan it has to be registered in accordance with the Ju-tô-hô 銃刀法 (Japanese Firearms and Sword Law). This applies to both antique and newly made swords (Shinsakutô 新作刀). Exempted are blades under 15 cm (5.9 inches), and Iaitô / Mogitô (training and decorative swords made from a zinc-aluminum alloy that can't be sharpened). Presently about 2.3 million swords are registered in Japan.

Police said Stegbauer's death had been ruled a homicide. Sounds like self defense to me. After all the old man was swinging a sword around at the younger man. The older sister was accidental she got in the way.

Stegbauer and Rondeau, eh? So, what’s the consensus - Long-standing cultural grievances, wine vs. beer or Limberger vs. Camembert?

Dont any of these bozos own any guns?
that is what I was thinking......that sister-in-law needed a gun to equal the age and strength difference.....the gun is always a good equalizer....
