Please excuse my accent.
Is that just me or did I get the story wrong? How many war ships do you need and FBI terrorist experts do you need to take over a dead in the water dinghy, 2 pirates and a hostage? OK I realize that the pirates could shoot the hostage.
Ar we going to send salves or shoot the dinghy with a canon? Sorry..I have a hard time not to laugh with that image but seriously...Or send the whole army, planes etc.. to fly around that dinghy? Or negotiate with these morons, knowing that they have no word anyway?
What about sending 2 good divers under the dinghy, pick the butt of the pirates, turn over the dinghy and get the hostage? I sailed for 12 years in dangerous waters...the whole story, I mean since they are in the dinghy, makes me really scratch my head.
Any other suggestions which could help our guys solve that problem? I am a bit lost here.
Again, I am certainly missing something important like - does that incident involves Russia or Iran or nukes or something?
Seems that it is just me..
Sadly, I think we will bow to Maersk’s request (it is their vessel) and not only free the pirates but see that they are paid the ransom they originally sought.
There will be an attempt to conceal this but it will fail.
It will be a sad day for America.
Maersk Alabama lifeboat FAQ. (with a pic)
http://gcaptain.com/maritime/blog/maersk-alabama-lifeboat-faq/
Jack and Sayid are the pirates, Kate and Sun-Hwa are their girlfriends and Hugo is the big, fat, capitalist American.
Great link! Very useful information.
Except in the list of things on board the lifeboat, they misspelled “pirates”:
“8).....two hatchets, one at each end of the lifeboat; (these are used to cut the painters)”
Yeah. I think that Captain, while being brave enough to “go down with the ship” as it were, is also smart enough to outwit these pirates.
He is the one that knows all about the boat, is probably in better physical condition than the pirates, is used to hard work and little sleep. I think in another day or so he’ll have the upper hand.
I’d be telling them that the rations were made of pork products. If starving they would eat it but I suspect they would hold off long enough to weaken some.
Since it is a U.S.-flagged vessel, the USCG and Federal agents do have jurisdiction aboard, and U.S. law applies.
Same as Vietnam betrayal.
Obama is thinking of a way for our troops to be killed and make the Pirates heros.
It’s a set up trap choreography for commi f@gs.
Or should we just sit down to tea and try to use diplomacy?
Our dear leader thinks we should use international diplomacy instead. Ummmm. blow the bastards out of the water and then go use a few JDAMs on their base in Somalia.
Problem solved. Screw diplomacy. Stupid liberals.
They are waiting because those arrogant ( several Marines ) Americans took back their ship without negotiating or even contacting the U.N.
Obama is mighty upset and wont discuss it . His muzzie brothers will be livid !
On the warship there are probably Navy Seals. And it gets really dark in the middle of the ocean.
The nuclear powered USS Bainbridge is the fastest ship over there. It got there the quickest.
“Let them float around for a few days to get good and tired and then have a few SEALs swim up to the boat late in the night.”
Yeah, I’m thinking it will be over before morning. Probably couldn’t get the team there in time last night, plus the situation was kind of confused. A stun grenade into the boat would certainly do the trick.
At the cost of 62 killed and wounded among the U.S. forces.
Kind of hard on the hostage, wouldn't you agree.
The pirates aren't going anywhere. Give it a day or so to see if they can be talked out of their hostage. There's plenty of time after that to storm the boat.
Maybe they are trying to build up a force to threaten the pirate bosses in Somalia so they can say release the man or we will invade your hangouts.
I did hear they know the areas these pirates dwell.
