Sinise is 54, but he still looks young, and he could play a 40-something Rearden. I’d mentioned Sinise in that role on an earlier thread. Someone above suggested Sinise as Galt. Never considered it, but he probably could play that role well, too, even though Galt is supposed to be in his late 30’s.

No doubt... I’m reading the book now.. have been since December! :-) I think I’m on page 905 or something.

It’s been going much faster since I learned to start skimming the diatribes. ENUF already! I get it.

I’m wondering: Was Ayn Rand Tom Clancy’s mother? God-Mother? They both tend to ramble... a bit.

Answering my own question (from the post link):

Producers are looking to shoot next year, driven in part by the timeliness, as well as by a clause in the option. A high net-worth individual with whom the Baldwins have partnered controls the option, but that option would revert to the Rand estate if production doesn't begin by the end of 2010.

I agree ... I could see him as John Galt. He’d need green contact lenses, though.

He seems to exude that quiet, yet passionate strength that’s called for in that role.

(Okay... and he’s hot, too.)

Best damn line of the whole movie, and there are a lot of good ones!

The green contacts are the least of my worries with all the flaming liberals that are up for the part. :(

Keith Olbermann as Jim Taggart! *snort*

Randall Wallace, the writer on other crisis-era, politically themed works such as “Braveheart” and “Pearl Harbor,”
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Pearl Harbor? Truly a horrible movie! I hope he will do better with “Shrugged”.

I was thinking Olbermann as Wesley Mouch and Bawney Fwank for Jim Taggart.

You're right ... the liberals are a target-rich environment for the parts.

It needs to be a mini-series to do it justice, 6-8 hours.

I really think that hollywood should not use A list, big name actors for this movie; they will ruin it (though Hollywood has a pretty good record of ruining books gone to movie on their own). I slightly agree with some of the comments that the book should be made into a mini-series or TV show where they can really follow the book and develop the characters, but I digress. Here is my list:
Dangy: Blake Lively
Francisco D’Anconia: Eduardo Verastegui
Hank Rearden: Paul Walker
Lilian Rearden: Bridgette Wilson
John Galt: Sam Worthington
James Taggart: Ralph Fiennes
Ragnar Danneskjöld: Stephen Dorff
Dan Conway: Aaron Eckhart
