Always Marry An April Girl

Praise the spells and bless the charms,
I found April in my arms.
April golden, April cloudy,
Gracious, cruel, tender, rowdy;
April soft in flowered languor,
April cold with sudden anger,
Ever changing, ever true --
I love April, I love you.

Ogden Nash

Thank, Yorkie, but don’t put me with Billie, Lori, Meg, Jaycee and Aqua.

I’m just beginning to practice with my software.

Yesterday we had 55 with a sea breeze and it felt like 30.

Today it’s 58, pure sun and almost no wind and it’s comfy.

Feels beautiful out there and it may not last because there’s a haze building.

Air is so dry I’m parched. Thats’ unusual for this area and I like it!

Hope you’re having a lovely day.

Paul Laurence Dunbar (1872-1906)

MY LITTLE MARCH GIRL

COME to the pane, draw the curtain apart,
There she is passing, the girl of my heart;
See where she walks like a queen in the street,
Weather-defying, calm, placid and sweet.

Tripping along with impetuous grace,
Joy of her life beaming out of her face,
Tresses all truant-like, curl upon curl,
Wind-blown and rosy, my little March girl.

Hint of the violet's delicate bloom,
Hint of the rose's pervading perfume!
How can the wind help from kissing her face,—
Wrapping her round in his stormy embrace?

But still serenely she laughs at his rout,
She is the victor who wins in the bout.
So may life's passions about her soul swirl,
Leaving it placid,—my little March girl.

What self-possession looks out of her eyes!
What are the wild winds, and what are the skies,
Frowning and glooming when, brimming with life,
Cometh the little maid ripe for the strife?

Ah! Wind, and bah! Wind, what might have you now?
What can you do with that innocent brow?
Blow, Wind, and grow, Wind, and eddy and swirl,
But bring to me, Wind,— my little March girl.

How pretty your opening is for yesterday, Aqua! Loved the potpourri in the silver dish, and the beautiful poem & rosebud. (those are both nice vignettes - especially like the way the second one looks, sort of a textured blend - with the antique-looking background)

Can we come for breakfast next time your kids/grandkids are there? Sausage gravy, and biscuits, with those Scottish Eggs - my husband would ask for surely ask for a doggie bag to bring some home. :)

Thank you, Aqua..I love eos backgrounds.

Ah, EOS backgrounds! My first introduction to that site was from Lori, and then I, in turn, recommended it to just about everyone I 'taught' how to do tables as a great source for background combinations! They are classy and timeless - and so many colors to choose from!

Billie, those are Bantam chicks (BBR) or Black Breasted Red. I don’t know too much about them, but loved the picture.

Oh, right - I've heard of "Banty" Roosters - they must be the same thing. I just don't remember what they look like and never saw a baby chick.

Hi, LadyJ - glad you’re having a beautiful day! Your “Great Tuesday” graphic should be a companion to jaycee’s “Lavender’s Blue”!
