Adam was interviewed and asked who he’d want to perform with. His answer? Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Madonna.

Sorry, but that response made me lose a lot of respect for the guy. He’s in it only for the fame, not the craft. He’s an entertainer, not a musician. Shame that such a gift is wasted.

I just read through your post #13,434. Or as it should be titled, “I know some gay people”.

Sorry, but it really didn’t explain why you have decided to basically call those of us who don’t like Adam, homophobes.

Can you please understand. Some of us don’t like his lifestyle. Enough so, it would bother us to say he is an idol of anything we want to see.

Others don’t care about his sexual preference, but just don’t think he is a talented singer.

Fancy that. Opinions on a conservative site called FReeRepublic.

Let it sink in.

I, in jest, used the word homophobe to one person, not in any post to you though.

Did you read where I said I deplore the gay lifestyle too? I gave my opinion on Adam’s talent, which, since it was liking him, is apparently not an approved opinion by many here also.

I spoke of my nephew and niece being gay, or your title of “I know some gay people” to perhaps (but apparently not) show my disdain, and my sister’s, at homosexuality.

Adam lost, Kris won. Adam is an idol of nothing.

I will be getting back to taking care of my mother and holding my daughter’s and grandson’s hearts while we wait for my son-in-law’s return from Iraq very shortly.

The show is over. So is my discussion about it.

Good evening to you (or early morning).

You shouldn’t feel hurt when someone defends themselves after you attacked them.

Because that is what happened. Just read through the posts on this thread to see the sequence of events.

I hope everything goes OK with your family member’s return from Iraq.

Good day to you as well.

I downloaded the album version of Steve Martin's "Pretty Flowers". I love it!

I think it's Dolly Parton and Vince Gill singing on it.

I guess that means you didn’t enjoy Stephen Kings “It”? lol

NO!

The clown thing came up before on this thread, or the last one. I started to post a photo of Pennywise that I googled, but I just couldn't do it. He freaks me out!

Thanks for the info, that's good to know! :)

The Year's Top-Earning 'Idols'

The mega-show opens the door to Hollywood riches for many alums. Here's who made the most last year.

LOS ANGELES -- For Adam Lambert or Kris Allen, winning this week's much-anticipated American Idol finale will mean a short-lived media frenzy and the sudden adoration of millions of fans. It could also mean a big paycheck down the road.

David Cook, the scruffy rocker and winner of the last Idol competition, earned an estimated $2 million since June of 2008. That's a huge boost from what Cook made as a struggling singer-songwriter in Tulsa, Okla., before the winning the Idol crown last May.

snip

Yet for a lesson in how to build truly massive riches, the current finalists should study the brief career of season-four winner Carrie Underwood. The farm girl turned songstress has gone on to a hugely lucrative recording, touring and product endorsement career. Underwood raked in an estimated $14 million last year, enough to secure the title of top-earning Idol alum.

With her carefully crafted Nashville pop, Underwood cultivates a massive audience spanning both country and Top 40 fans. Her debut album, Some Hearts, spent 11 weeks in 2007 at the top of the Billboard album charts. Songs from her second effort, Carnival Ride, got massive airplay on both country and adult alternative radio. All told, Underwood has sold 9.6 million albums and 10.7 million digital downloads, according to Nielsen Soundscan.

Along with producing crowd-pleasing albums, Underwood understands the financial importance of hitting the road. She has played more than 300 shows since her Idol win. Each performance brings in about $350,000 to be split between Underwood and the concert promoter, according to Pollstar.

Underwood has also supplemented her recording and touring income with sizable product endorsement payments. She generates tabloid buzz with her personal life--former alleged flames include Dallas Cowboys star Tony Romo and Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford--but avoids the personal meltdowns that afflict other young female celebrities, making her an ideal pitchwoman for consumer products companies. Vitamin Water, owned by Coca-Cola ( KO - news - people ), pays Underwood to endorse its beverages.

Jennifer Hudson, eliminated midway through the third season, was the second-best paid Idol alum over the past year. Following the show, Hudson smartly bet her best chance and superstardom would come from work that blends her musical and acting talents.

In 2006, Hudson took a supporting role in the film adaptation of the Motown musical Dreamgirls. She won an Academy Award for the performance and has since scored roles in the Sex and the City movie and Winged Creatures, an upcoming indie flick also starring Kate Beckinsale and Forest Whitaker.

Her movie roles, along with a well-regarded album and endorsements from Gap ( GPS - news - people ) and Avon, earned Hudson an estimated $5 million.

Kelly Clarkson, the first Idol champion, holds the title of most albums sold by a show alumnus. The 27-year-old with the powerful voice has sold over 10 million records since 2003, generating a steady stream of cash. Clarkson's All I Ever Wanted, released in March, is currently at No. 17 on the Billboard 200.

Another popular career path for Idol contestants is taking their voices on to Broadway or on tour with roving productions of popular musicals. Clay Aiken, the quirky second-place finisher from the second season, boosted his 2008 earnings by performing on Broadway in the Monty Python musical "Spamalot."

Taylor Hicks, winner of the fifth season, is currently playing the role of Teen Angel in a national tour of Grease. Hicks has also toured extensively as a solo artist and released two solidly popular albums of bluesy tunes.

Constantine Maroulis, who finished sixth place in the fourth season, is the most decorated Idol-turned-Broadway star. This month, he received a Tony nomination for his leading role in "Rock of Ages."

Still, without a big-selling album, endorsement contract or solo tour, Maroulis fell just short of our list of top 10 Idol alums.

As Ms. Underwood can attest, a multi-platform approach is essential to post-Idol riches.

No. 1: Carrie Underwood

$14 million

The Muskogee, Okla.-born country girl used Idol to launch a massively successful recording career. A three-time Grammy country vocal winner, Underwood has sold 9.6 million albums.

No. 2: Jennifer Hudson

$5 million

The multi-talented singer-actress won an Oscar in 2006 for her role in Dreamgirls. Her 2008 self-titled album has sold over 750,000 copies. Hudson was chosen to sing the national anthem at the 2009 Super Bowl.

No. 3: Kelly Clarkson

$4.2 million

Idol's original queen has sold over 10 million albums. Her latest single, "All I Ever Wanted," hit No. 1 on Billboard charts.

No. 4: Jordin Sparks

$3.1 million

The season six winner broke out with "No Air," a duet with R&B crooner Chris Brown. She has toured with Alicia Keyes and is now on the road with tween sensations the Jonas Brothers.

No. 5: Kellie Pickler

$2.3 million

Like fellow Idol alum Underwood, Pickler is more cowgirl than diva. She has sold 1 million records since the show. She is paid to endorse Sexy Hair products.

No. 6: Clay Aiken

$2.2 million

The Raleigh, N.C., native maintains loyal following six years after finishing second on Idol. He has sold 4 million albums and penned a New York Times best-selling memoir. Aiken recently finished a run in Broadway's "Spamalot."

No. 7: Chris Daughtry

$2 million

One of the first Idol rockers to reach the final four, Daughtry's debut album sold over 4 million copies. His follow-up is slated to hit stores this July.

No. 8: David Cook

$2 million

Once a small-town songwriter, Cook has a top-selling album and a lucrative endorsement deal with Skechers.

No. 9: David Archuleta

$1.3 million

Edged out in the seventh season by Cook, baby-faced Archuleta has gone on to release a successful album of soulful pop. The self-titled debut record has sold 700,000 copies. The 18 year-old has played more than 100 live shows since Idol.

No. 10: Taylor Hicks

$300,000

Prematurely gray-haired soul master Hicks charmed Idol audiences and won the fifth season. He's now playing Teen Angel in a national tour of Grease.

From Gene Simmons’ website where he responds to email

Gene..

You rocked tonight on American Idol. Like always. U R a rock god!!!!!

If you cant can you hook Adam Lambert up with someone to get him started on the way to be another rock god like you.

My opinion is: Adam should of won American idol hands down. He is amazing. I have bought everything there is to buy of him on I tunes and I voted hundreds of times for him on Tuesday nights. actually sat here and voted and voted for hours for him.

Hope you actually get this and can send Adam somewhere he can start his rock n roll career .

Take care and big ass hugs to you,

Jodie

Response from Gene:

Respectfully, I don’t think Adam is a rock singer. He sounds much more convincing singing ballads, and Broadway shows. His voice doesn’t seem to have a “rock quality.” But, I’m sure he’s going to do just fine.

Well, another AI season is over. And just as our favorite TV series always leaves us with a cliffhanger, here's one for you to ponder.

Q: Which AI winner will be the FIRST to have a child of theirs audition for the show in the future?
