Ok....here's a little game to play....

What song titles reflect our current "economic" situation today?

Example: Tom Petty: Free Fallin'

I think Flakes by Frank Zappa describes the whole thing pretty neatly.

Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away;
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air.
You’d better watch out!
There may be dogs about
I looked over Jordan, and I’ve seen
Things are not what they seem.

That’s what you get for pretending the danger’s not real.
Meek and obedient you follow the leader
Down well trodden corridors into the valley of steel.
What a surprise!
A look of terminal terror in your eyes.
Now things are really what they seem.
No, this is not a bad dream.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want
He lays me down to lie
Through pastures green He leadeth me the silent waters by.
With bright knives He releaseth my soul.
He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places.
He converteth me to lamb cutlets,
For lo, He hath great power, and great hunger.
When cometh the day we lowly ones,
Through quiet reflection, and great dedication
Master the art of karate,
Lo, we shall rise up,
And then we’ll make the bugger’s eyes water.

Bleating and babbling we fell on his neck with a scream.
Wave upon wave of demented avengers
March cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream.

Have you heard the news?
The dogs are dead!
You better stay home
And do as you’re told.
Get out of the road if you want to grow old.

Pink Floyd - Sheep

This is really going to age me:

Lesley Gore’s, “It’s My Party and I’ll Cry If I Want To.”

That song with the lyrics, “Pick a penny up and put it in your pocket. Save it for a rainy day.”

I bought a new GMC Sierra and returned to the dealer
yesterday because I couldn’t get the radio to work.

The salesman explained that the radio was voice activated.

‘Nelson,’ the salesman said to the radio.
The radio replied, ‘Ricky or Willie?’

‘Willie!’ he continued and ‘On The Road Again’
came from the speakers.

Then he said, ‘Ray Charles!’, and in an instant
‘Georgia On My Mind’ replaced Willie Nelson.

I drove away happy, and for the next few days, every time
I’d say, ‘Beethoven,’ I’d get beautiful classical music,
and if I said, ‘Beatles,’ I’d get one of
their awesome songs.

Yesterday, some Mexicans ran a red light and
nearly creamed my new truck, but
I swerved in time to avoid them.

I yelled, ‘[censored] Holes!’

Immediately the Iranian National Anthem began to play,
sung by H Obama, Jane Fonda and Barbara Streisand, backed up by
Michael Moore and The Dixie Chicks, with John Kerry
on guitar, Al Gore on drums, Dan Rather on harmonica,
Nancy Pelosi on tambourine, Harry Reid on spoons,
Bill Clinton on sax and Ted Kennedy On Scotch.

I LOVE this truck!

There's an obscure song from back in the 60's which perfectly describes life as it will be after Lord Obama completes his agenda.

Secret Police by the Belfast Gypsies

You can hear it at the link (find the little red circle with an arrow).

Bob Dylan-Everything Is Broken

Broken lines, broken strings,
Broken threads, broken springs,
Broken idols, broken heads,
People sleeping in broken beds.
Ain’t no use jiving
Ain’t no use joking
Everything is broken.

Broken bottles, broken plates,
Broken switches, broken gates,
Broken dishes, broken parts,
Streets are filled with broken hearts.
Broken words never meant to be spoken,
Everything is broken.

Bridge: Seem like every time you stop and turn around
Something else just hit the ground

Broken cutters, broken saws,
Broken buckles, broken laws,
Broken bodies, broken bones,
Broken voices on broken phones.
Take a deep breath, feel like you’re chokin’,
Everything is broken.

Bridge: Every time you leave and go off someplace
Things fall to pieces in my face

Broken hands on broken ploughs,
Broken treaties, broken vows,
Broken pipes, broken tools,
People bending broken rules.
Hound dog howling, bull frog croaking,
Everything is broken.
