Details emerge on Jett Travolta's death

John Travolta, Kelly Preston and their children Jett and Ella Bleu, leave an airport in Rome.

John Travolta's lawyers -- who are close family friends -- reveal that Jett may have died in his father's arms Friday.

Us: How is John doing?

-snip- "John and Kelly are suffering total misery. They were so close to their son. This is hard to accept.

-snip-

Us: Have John and Kelly spent time with anyone since everyone arrived?

Ossi and McDermott: "John and Kelly have been pretty much locked away.

"We are staying here until John leaves. The autopsy should be on Monday.

-snip-

Us: It's been reported that Jett was left alone for several hours before being discovered. Can you clarify the timeline?

Ossi and McDermott: "Jett was not left alone. He had a nanny present at all times. The nanny was sleeping close to Jett's room. There was a baby monitor, a chime on the door so it was known when Jett was going in and out. He was completely supervised. The nanny found him.

Us: Is it true that Jett died in John's arms?

Ossi and McDermott: "Jett may have still been alive when John administered CPR, and then the EMT took over. Jett was pronounced dead at the hospital. I like to believe John had a chance to say goodbye. He may have died in his dad's arms. I am not certain."

Us: It's been said Jett had a history of seizures. How often did he have them?

Ossi and McDermott: "I am not confident to talk about that. I know he had a history, which of course warranted the extra attention."

-snip-

“I hope these gets ALOT Of discussion around the world and people really start to think about the responsibilites of a parent when it comes to the health and welfare of a child.”

You seem legitimately concerned about the children, however, many of our freedoms are taken away ‘for the children.’ I, for one, don’t want the ‘world’ thinking I am shirking my parental responsibilities because I refuse to give my child medication I don’t believe in (ritalin, anti-depressants, etc).

Be careful...it is indeed a slippery slope that I assume most conservatives don’t want to go down.

Do you think this is disgusting...

Kelly Preston is deeply involved with CCHR.

“The group said its goal was to educate the community about the dangers of psychiatric drugs,”

So....what else do you do for a living besides this? You’re quite...virulent on this thread.

So....it’s ultimately the decision of the parents or guardians to decide what is right for the child. In this case, they MAY have decided to take their son off the Depakote (So! Who knows!)

So....again, you don’t know the whole story. You are not the mother or father of that boy. You can NEVER KNOW what they went thru. They lost a child and you just want to rail against scientology.

As far as all your other far reaching questions...that is exactly what they are, far reaching...or maybe I am just bored.

I like your call out to BOR. Didn’t realize he frequented FR.

I agree ..it is a slippery slope and a very hard one to walk.

But fear of walking that line should not prevent one from trying to doing so..

I DEEPLY believe it is a wrong to tell a child that she has to die because the mother doesn’t believe in a medical procedure.

I also DEEPLY believe it is a BAD IDEA to put a disabled child through the Scientology quackery of purification rundown...auditing..etc.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Purification_Rundown

IF the Travoltas gave Jett Depakote, it went against the Scientology beliefs..AND the beliefs that they have espoused themselves about psych drugs.

What we know for sure is that Kelly Preston put her son through Detox and that nonsense of large doses of Niacin can cause liver damage.

Who is to protect the children from the insanity of Scientology?

CCHR has a different view than yours..when it comes to other peoples children.

They protested a funeral and demanded to know what drugs a child had been on.

“They lost a child and you just want to rail against scientology.”

Not exactly.

But I do hope that this tragedy blows the lid off this brainwashing cult.

Sadly, it is not just Jett who is a victim,..it is also his mother and father.

http://www.xenu.net/archive/disk/archive/quotes.htm

Judge Constandia Angelaki:

“It is an organization with medical, social and ethical practices that are dangerous and harmful,”
“It claims to act freely so as to draw members who subsequently undergo ... brainwashing by dictated ways of thinking that limit reaction capabilities.”

Justice Anderson, Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia:

“Scientology is evil; its techniques are evil; its practice is a serious threat to the community, medically, morally, and socially; and its adherents are sadly deluded and often mentally ill... (Scientology is) the world’s largest organization of unqualified persons engaged in the practice of dangerous techniques which masquerade as mental therapy.”

Justice Latey, ruling in the High Court of London:

“Scientology is both immoral and socially obnoxious...It is corrupt sinister and dangerous. It is corrupt because it is based on lies and deceit and has its real objective money and power for Mr. Hubbard... It is sinister because it indulges in infamous practices both to its adherents who do not toe the line unquestionably and to those who criticize it or oppose it. It is dangerous because it is out to capture people and to indoctrinate and brainwash them so they become the unquestioning captives and tools of the cult, withdrawn from ordinary thought, living, and relationships with others.”

Judge Breckenridge, Los Angeles Superior Court:

“[The court record is] replete with evidence [that Scientology] is nothing in reality but a vast enterprise to extract the maximum amount of money from its adepts by pseudo scientific theories... and to exercise a kind of blackmail against persons who do not wish to continue with their sect.... The organization clearly is schizophrenic and paranoid, and this bizarre combination seems to be a reflection of its founder, L.Ron Hubbard.”

California Supreme Court, United States v. Lee [455 U.S. 252,257,258 (1982)*/:

“When a person is subjected to coercive persuasion [as in Scientology] without his knowledge or consent ...[he may] develop serious and sometimes irreversible physical and psychiatric disorders, up to and including schizophrenia, self-mutilation, and suicide.”

Lest anyone continue to think that issue at hand is whether the drug Depakote is a psychiatric drug and thus evil according to Scientology...

Tom Cruise pulled this stunt..no wonder his career went down the tubes:

HOLLYWOOD - Outspoken actor Tom Cruise has been criticized by firefighters suffering the effects of smoke inhalation from the World Trade Center terrorist attacks for his controversial views on their treatment.

The Scientology devotee has urged emergency services victims to give up their medication and inhalers as part of a 'purification rundown,’ which favors sauna sessions, ingestion of cooking oil and large doses of niacin as cures instead. (same program Jett had to endure)

As co-founder of the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project, Cruise has also supported a new Scientology clinic preaching these remedies near the Ground Zero site.

But the unorthodox therapy has been slammed as ridiculous and potentially harmful by members of the medical profession, as well as sufferers themselves.

Deputy Fire Commissioner Frank Gribbon tells gossip site PageSix.com, "If our doctors are prescribing medication, and they (Scientologists) are saying 'don't take it,' that's a problem for us." He adds that the department's deputy chief medical officer Dr. David Prezant has supported criticism of the wacky treatment, saying, "He (Prezant) is not pleased when patients are advised to disobey doctors' orders. That's where he drew the line." Cruise, however, has defended the venture, claiming, "More than 500 individuals have recovered health and job fitness through this project."

Good article.
Lots of people questioning what really went on in this death.

http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/posted/archive/2009/01/06/dianetics-drugs-and-the-death-of-a-young-travolta.aspx

one of the more bizarre aspects is Wecht, who was involved in the Mcpherson case..claiming it would take weeks to accurately determine cause of death was a seizure.

Given that he has been hired by Scientology in the past..why is he making that kind of statement now.

I wonder if the Doctor that the Travoltas flew in who claimed cause of death was a Seizure is a Scientologist. What are the odds?

Haven’t read the whole thread.

I believe in FREEDOM of religion, which in practical sense means true FREEDOM in the way one lives one’s life, as long as it does not impede the freedom of others. I believe this site is based on that, along with our Constitution.

We need to allow people to even raise their children according to their beliefs. Unless there is beating, torture, abject cruelty, or sexual abuse, parents should be able to choose their highest sense of Right for their children.

A left winger can have her son’s ears pierced and take him to Obama rallies, and make him be a vegetarian and tell him there is no G-d. A Christian can homeschool her child and have him memorize Bible verses. A Jewish parent can have her child walk around with a yarmulke and payess (earlock curls). A Christian Scientist can refuse medications or surgeries for her child. One may not like some of these choices, but loving parents come in all stripes.

Remember that children die from medical intervention too.

One of the links I posted..had a link from a former Scientologist. She said that she was told it is not a religion. That this classification is only for tax purposes. She wanted to go to a service, etc.

So does that change your view? I suppose not since you feel that parents should be able to do anything they want short of the acts you mentioned.

Apparently, if you are homosexual, Scientology can cure that too and they use Travolta as the example.

http://www.skeptictank.org/hs/pattinso.htm

I always thought the hold they had over Travolta was what they had found out during auditing sessions...one being that he was gay...but if they were using that fact to recruit..then it wasnt much of a hold over him.

Some people claim they blackmail their members.

“sought help from around the world?”..

yea.. and I wonder what type of help was sought around the world.. was it Scientology’s spa and vitamin experts?

The people making these claims are lawyers.. Nothing against lawyers.. but when they make such a statement it can not be taken at face value.. as it is their job to present their client’s case in the best possible way..

it is a slippery slope.. and so the judicial system has to weigh each case carefully..

personally.. I think unless it is something that will affect the long term health of the child.. gov’t should stay out of the family..

from what i have seen of wecht on tv.. he is a pretty straight shooter.. rather than a hired gun...

I believe in one prominent case he actually came out against the people who hired him..

You can’t just take the word of the propaganda machine. If you read that lawsuit by the duped homosexual..the allegations are quite schocking..Of course, they are just allegations. I bet the Church settles.

It appears that the comment from Tommy Davis may be screwed up reporting and it is getting play around the world. Perhaps the original reporter didn’t proofread and the word “NOT” should not be in the first part. I thought it odd that Tommy Davis would admit to such a thing.

One story writes this:

Church of Scientology International member Tommy Davis confirmed those practicing the religion would not seek conventional treatment for seizures.

He said: “Scientologists seek conventional medical treatment for medical conditions. Scientologists use prescription drugs when physically ill and also rely on the advice and treatment of medical doctors. The church does not involve itself in the diagnosis or classification of any medical condition.”
