Very sweet, Amy!
I am going down to my son’s new house in a little while. He has one floor presentable now...LOL! Then, he is coming here early in the morning to overhaul my computer, finally! So I will be down tomorrow. Have had a lot to cover lately!
Hope your birthday is very special! (((Hugs)))
Just so cute, Meg! How did the pants you tried on work out? LOL~~~ I am wanting to make one of your cakes very soon now, after I get some other things out of the way. Don’t believe I will ever finish all thats to be done right away.
If you had to choose which of those cakes you liked best, which would it be? Probably hard to choose, isn’t it?

I haven’t tried them on yet...I still have chocolate to eat..LOL
Good luck with your computer tomorrow..Have fun with your son and touring the house.
I thought I liked the hummingbird cake best but making the apple cake early and letting it mellow made it hard to choose..Both cakes are better if you let them sit well covered overnight. Mine were great after many days..
Both are easy so I really like that!
Thae apple cake is convenient because one can open a can of apples and not wait on bananas to get just right like I must do for the Hummingbird cake.
I see the raccoon left paw prints on the glass doors last night..I need to clean another door while the sun shines.
I found these under Google Images - "Glass Cocktail Straws with shells".
(About a third of the way down on the following link.)
You reminded me to ask you...when you say a can of apples, the only kind I’ve seen (that I have purchased) are White House Fried Apples. They are just sliced apples in sorta sweet juice.
One more questions, on both cakes, do you let them cool in the pan before turning out, or turn out when coming from oven??
Thank you, yorkie ..Very pretty! Mine has the shell at the bottom and it forms a little cup..much like a seashell does.
I was running through channels and landed on TV Land channel and that Elvis special is on, when he wore that leather suit. Man, does he look good and those songs...his voice was so beautiful. Brings back a lot of sweet memories to me. I was an awful big Elvis fan and so was a lot of us back then!
I bet that cake would be wonderful. You would never know the sourkraut was in it. Sounds interesting, yorkie! I better go and finish up to go down the road to my son’s!
Re: Elvis Show, they have switched to another scene and I don’t remember that being on the “leather show”....LOL!
I get Comstock or Lucky Leaf sliced apples for pies and desserts..DO NOT use apple pie filling
The can holds i lb and 4 oz
The instructions are on my recipe..Cool twenty minutes in pan on a rack ..then turn into a plate and place on a rack to further cool.
Those are pretty, yorkie!
See ya’ll later!
One pound 4 oz can of sliced apples.
Thanks for the apple information. And I could have checked the recipes for cooling time...LOL...thought it easier to ask you! See ya!
Since you have cake, I’ll leave the chocolates hidden.
Between Marissa and I, they won’t last very long. :)
Chocolates disappear fast here!
Have a great visit, JC, and take advantage of all the “warm fuzzies” you are going to get!
P.S. - I loved Elvis, too!!
