Check to see if you're signed in.
This ain't Dogs R' Us.
But, seriously, how the hell does a year and half old Border Collie have a sister that's 6 months old?
And a black lab mix at that.
Izzat you, Hussein?
Are you tryin' to start some crap?

Teach your dog how to grill, and you are set.

I doubt the whole story. A first post vanity and no followup posts don’t help, either.

Last year my Belgian Tervuren disappeared for a week. Turns out he chartered a full African safari...We now jokingly refer to him around the house as “Dog-tari”.

So is this some college assignment to find out what the evil Conservatives say about it? or are you just having fun? I have NEVER seen a dog that could run down a healthy deer.

A border collie taking a deer? Extremely unlikely.

I have a Jack Russell that goes to Alaska and kills Kodiak bears. I just dont know how to stop her. I took away her credit cards but she just turns tricks to pay for the plane tickets. I believe every word of it!

Change the food.
We had some mixed breed dogs and they killed the nieghbor’s goats. Come to find out, they weren’t eating (we had been noticing alot of food going to waste) their dog food from the stupid Chinese melamine (sp) and they were starved.
But border collies aren’t hunting dogs by nature. Why else would they use them to round up sheep without fear of them attacking the sheep?

This may be more than you can handle so I would recommend contacting a professional dog trainer and see if your dog can't be trained to skin and gut the deer. Might as well have him trained to drag it home, cut and wrap it and stick it in the freezer as well!

"I have NEVER seen a dog that could run down a healthy deer. " My Lab does...but she just corners them and barks at them until I tell her to lay off...she's a liberal.

I once had a staghound. It was fast enough to keep up with deer (and to chase cars at about 50 mph on highways) but not quite able to catch them. That’s quite a remarkable dog that you have there.
Hmmm. Maybe I should get a chihuahua that can take elk down. ;-)

This could cause you some trouble.
Is the dog neutered? Might help?
Maybe putting some bells on his collar would help warn the deer. Otherwise you'll have to keep him penned up.

In many places deer are so numerous they are considered vermin so I wouldn't expect the Michigan standard to be universal.
I suspect the deer around this poster's home are underfed and small which is why a border collie was able to take one down ~ as we move into winter it's only going to get worse, and there will be a major die-off from starvation as these deer overgraze their limited mast.
Better they die quickly at the hands of canines than by starvation.
That's nature's way.

I wish I could hire your dog. Deer eat the buds on my apple trees, and my peach trees. Plenty of other food around.
These things are just giant vermine.
If there were not cute, there would be a bounty on them.

There is NO way a Border Collie could take down a HEALTHY deer. I’m sure you won’t be stumbling across any more dead deer carcasses any time soon unless they have been ailing to begin with.
To: Doomonyou
Might as well have him trained to drag it home, cut and wrap it and stick it in the freezer as well! He's a Border Collie not a Golden Retriever for crying out loud.
