Good evening. As Arctic temps and snow grip much of the country, I pray for all those who travel and have to spend time outside.
Also remember the many affected by the economic woes this season...anecdotal stories we're all hearing bring the statistics to life, and add a somber theme to the time which is usually so joyful.
The laptop I had in Alaska had been handed down to other family members for a while, and finally wouldn't stay on for more than 5 minutes. So, of course, it came back to me.
I disassembled it (124 tiny screws later) and found green fuzzy military blanket stuff clogging up the cooling vanes, with layers of cat hair, dog hair, and carpet fibers blocking the channels.
Laptops suck air from the bottom and pick up everything. Putting a laptop on a clean, hard surface will extend the life of the laptop 2 to 5 times better than rough handling on the road. And the fan platforms are great for that. Your hubby did good. Give him a tip of the hat from me.

Oh, yes! My amusing little vignette is that LionsDaughter has a cough. She has had the cough for about a week. Now, y’all may remember that only a few weeks ago someone here shared the remedy of putting Vick’s Vapo Rub on your feet, covering the feet with socks and sleeping through the night. Wallah! [SIC] When you get up in the morning, the cough is cured.
She will not try the remedy. She laughs it to scorn.
Well, I now have her cough. She is so generous. I developed it late last night after most of the stores had closed. My cough isn’t bad yet, but hopefully, in the morning, I can give y’all an account of the veracity of that claim.
I’m fighting something. I’ve been using Zicam since early this morning. I’ve taken Vitamin C and am drinking extra water.
I will cover may feet in Vicks tonite to see if that will help.
What’s cookin’?
Were the Pixies at your house for Christmas?
Hope all is well.
OH MY GOODNESS! JEMIANS TERROR SHOT AN INTRUDER LAST NIGHT!
He called a little bit ago and told us someone tried to breach the perimeter while he was on guard duty at about 0100. The man wouldn’t stop and so JT shot him.

So, you and I both will test the theory. Our conclusions will be interesting.
Even if it works, LD will not try it.
Danke schön.
Bitte.
OMG!
He did what he was trained to do, and he was following orders.
Think how awful it could have been if he had not had the courage to do what he was supposed to do, and it had turned out the intruder had nothing good planned once he was inside the parameter.
Praise God for young men who take their assignments seriously, and understand they must protect their comrades.
Did he say 'where' he shot him? Did he just 'wing' him? Give us more details.
I didn’t mean to sound blood thirsty.
Just Curious.
JT didn’t give too many details. I’m sure he did act instinctively. JT shot an intruder at our home in Papua once. There, JT ordered the person to halt, had a gun trained on him which the person could see. Our intruder kept coming and had raised the machete to try and hack at him (although the intruder wasn’t close enough to reach JT). That was enough for JT and he wasn’t going to give the intruder any more opportunity.
Blam! JT hit him in the arm and although it was only an air rifle which JT had, it was enough to surprise the miscreant. The person fell and JT, hubby and our dog Tippy quickly subdued him.
I was watching from a safe distance so this is what I remember.
The police were called and the episode ended.
Some little wimpy liberal from Canada attending our school later said she hoped JT wouldn’t suffer any psychological effects from shooting the guy. JT replied the effects would now be far less than if JT had allowed the guy to slice his arm off. LOL!
Psychological that!!!!
Hubby just got back from the drugstore with the VapoRub. I’m putting on my feet now.
I have a brand new jar,,,,’somewhere’. I’ve been looking for it.
I found it.
I smothered my feet, and put some on my chest for good measure.
I took great care to be sure I got the Vapor Rub between my toes, as I’ve heard that the soft skin between your toes absorbs things quickly. (it’s creating a sort of burning sensation)
I think I’ll put some on my neck and back. It can’t hurt anything.
