They can't comment. If they do they are immediately marginalized by the entire media world as “Birthers”
They know the sharks are waiting. Everything they say after that will be held in contempt and mocked by the media establishment.

So, they wait until it breaks and then they can talk about it. Didn't you wonder why it took the National Enquirer to break the Edwards story?

This has got to be an effort by the blogosphere and the few who can take it to the courts. Sooner or later, like the Illinois Governor, something will slip out. Until then, it may stink like week old moldy fish, but we have to put up with it.

Would like to hear some thoughts on why Rush, Sean and Mark Levin don't talk about this issue.

Because it would destroy their credibility. The election is over. The time to raise any issue is during the campaign. To try to make something out of this now is counter productive. It smacks of Al Gore and his "Selected Not Elected" crowd. Conservatives do not wish to be perceived as sore losers.

Yeap, fear of being called conspiracy kooks, or racist for demanding a black man prove he was born in the US. Truth is, the real kooks are those who don’t think Obama should do the simple thing, and make his birth certificate available for verification. He is hiding something, and contrary to the lame excuse of his staff, this isn’t a privacy issue. People who believe something posted on the Internet that may or may not be real, and tells us nothing either way, are as bad as people who believe in Bigfoot because of a picture in a trash magazine. It’s stupidity. A mental disease too many Americans have these days.

It is crap. Should have been handled before he was elected. Possible way out technicality at best. They and others do not want to be labeled ..... inaccurately.

Right-wing Talk Radio - including Rush, Hannity, Coulter, Ingraham, and others - all stand to make indecent amounts of money for the next eight years.

Their show ratings, book sales, ad dollars, and golfing cred are about to increase because of all those right-wing disenfranchised marginalized impotent bitter glun-clingers who will hang on their every word like a twelve-step program.

They have only their interests at heart, not yours - remember what Rush tells you, “My job is to talk - your job is to listen.”

And pay the royalties.

Levin won’t touch it because he is a brilliant lawyer. He knows it has no chance. There are gaping loopholes in our process and Obama sauntered through them. It is too late. Any discovery or procedural change might help us 2012 but Obama will be the 44th president.

Rush & Sean won’t mention it because they follow Levin’s lead on legal matters.

Whatever Obama's hiding, it's not likely that he was born in Kenya.

So whatever comes out, big or small, if you were one of the people saying he was born there, you're going to look silly.

Now if the craziest speculation is by some miracle true, you'll have made a name for yourself if you supported it, but really what are the odds?

You posed an intellectually legitimate question. However, it appears many of the throw-in-the-towel koolaid drinkers took it as an open house invitation.

Ouderkirk and others are correct. If a courageous politician does defend the constitution on Jan 8, conservative talk show hosts understand the SWHTF and they do not want to be id’d as a target.

Further, although I believe an objection will be presented on Jan 8, we will end up with Hillary.

What leads me to this conclusion? If O was born in Hawaii to Mr & Mrs. O, Sr. there would be nothing embarrassing about his birth records and he would not be expending effort and large sums to avoid production of the records.

Either way, the Home of the Brave and the Land of the Free will have a Marxist for a president in 2009.

It has obvious merit from the point that Obama has fought to keep it secret.

The COLB debacle is just another Obama skeleton that will go nowhere, do nothing and ultimately serve to drag the name of Conservatives further through the mud as fringe whackjobs who love a good conspiracy. No matter how much dirt and corruption and smears we could lay on Obama, regardless of their merit, it does absolutely NOTHING to fix the piss-poor state of the Conservative party. That's it. The Liberals love watching us chase our tails, bitch & moan and exclaim "a-ha!" while the Republic is jacked from under us.

The ultra-biased media isn't going away... the corrupt scumbags in DC aren't going away... the looming Socialist utopia is almost upon us. This crap is akin to pulling the splinter out of a man dying of leukemia and hoping it will kill the cancer. Gimme a break... find something constructive to do instead of perpetuating the notion that pulling a Liberal down somehow lifts the Conservative party up

Excellent question.

It doesn’t make sense that no one has discussed this issue(unless I missed it).

James Taranto WSJ wrote an article on the Best of the Web and called the issue silly. His article didn’t answer the basic questions and didn’t make sense to me.

I think some may be afraid of the consequences if this becomes a constitutional crisis and the potential rioting.

I feel that there is a level of corruption and incompetence throughout this country that is more pervasive than the Illinois governor issue.

I see it at the local level and everyone just ignores the corruption, criminal activity and incompetence of local government officials.

They are gutless, money grubbing, and afraid of losing their mansions.

All they had to do was present the public information in a non biased manner. None of them could do it because they are ‘gutless’ as Mark Levin screamed today about some lesser topic.

I believe that talk radio has been warned by the FCC. Talk radio is being threatened with the Fairness Doctrine. If the internet can be scrubbed, talk radio can be muzzled.

Suppose Obama is not eligible. Is there any remedy that could be effected prior to the counting of the Electoral College votes which would not create a major crisis of legitimacy (the Constitution may grant the EC and Congress the authority to pick the President however they want, but there's no way the public would accept it)? The only remedy that would not create such a crisis would be to tell a President-Elect Obama that he can take as long he likes to authorize the release of his birth records; Joe Biden will serve as Acting President if needed until such time as Obama's eligibility is confirmed.

Under that scenario, there would be no need to ever depose Obama from his title of "President-Elect". If Obama were to decide that he would rather keep his birth records secret than serve as President, that would be entirely his decision.

Is there any reason to believe that such a scenario would not be the best possible resolution to the situation (whether Obama is eligible or not)? Can anything good come from, at this stage in the game, trying to cause the selection of someone other than Obama as President-Elect?

here is what some GOP insiders are saying (maybe):

Obama is not our problem, he is the Democrat’s problem.
Obama saved us from Hillary. An 8-year successful Hillary administration was killed off to replace it with a disaster, filled with Illinois scandal.

If Obama doesn’t take office, another Democrat would be PREZ.

Therefore, the major group that had motivation for this issue would have been the Hillaries. Besides, this is just one more issue to bring up in Obama’s impeachment investigation.
