You're quite welcome, Amy - I'm always glad to share Yeats - he's one of the greatest poets of the English language, IMHO.

LOL. :) I spoil my dog too. She’s a Dachshund-terrier mix. There are always squirrels under the feeder. I always say, no chase to her as she goes out. She understands. However it doesn’t always work. I think the squirrels have made a game out of it.

Freep mail me to be on or off the Daily Bread ping list

December 4, 2008
Gone With The Wind
All is vanity and grasping for the wind. —Ecclesiastes 1:14
The epic film based on Margaret Mitchell’s novel Gone With the Wind opens with these lines:

“There was a land of Cavaliers and Cotton Fields called the Old South. Here in this pretty world, Gallantry took its last bow. . . . Look for it only in books, for it is no more than a dream remembered, a Civilization gone with the wind.

Not only does a way of life disappear but also the dreams that drive the main characters. Throughout the Civil War, Scarlett O’Hara is preoccupied with her love for Ashley Wilkes. But by story’s end, she is disillusioned.

Solomon saw the futility of seeking satisfaction in people and things. Despite amassing wealth and knowledge, completing great projects, and marrying many wives, he said, “All is vanity and grasping for the wind” (Eccl. 1:14).

Why does chasing transitory things leave us unfulfilled? The biblical answer is that we were created to find our ultimate fulfillment in God. Jesus promised, “I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10).

People and things come and go. But the spiritual satisfaction Christ offers sustains us in this world and will endure into eternity.

What comes from man will never last,
It’s here today, tomorrow past;
What comes from God will always be
The same for all eternity! —Spencer

Invest your life in what pays eternal dividends.

For the Ladies

And Now

A kiss, as soft as the whisper of silk
a caress, each like the last of its ilk
Over skin as smooth as alabaster’s grace
barely hidden by the veil of enticing lace

Her breath, a whispered promise in my ear
half demand and hope and need so very dear
Nailed claws and grasping desperation so
ignite her and consume her with all I do

She surrenders to a fire within her now
and becomes a part of everything somehow
A Universe within a silken skin so fair
a golden merging of souls in love with care

Shuddering descent after a comet’s course
a victim of my manipulations without remorse
Carried beyond the range of every day
I take her to the silken plain to lay

To love her, in my own need I consume her
to hear her uttered need and satisfied purr
To lift her to the inner stars to fall
and weld with her until dawn’s dull call

To see in her eyes the depth 0f her love
and know the passions of this sweet dove
To leave her a sleep in a sweet release
to enfold her in deep joy and love’s peace

Good Morning! :)
How beautiful! I've been seeing a lot of Juncos around the feeder.

Look who visited the feeders this morning. :) Not the best shot. Kinda dark and hope you can see him/her(?). I had to take the picture through a window. They scare easily.

Have a great day everyone! :)

Wow, lovely shot of the bird, they look so much different when their not golden brown, carefully basted, and savory.

What is that, G. B.? Maybe a wild turkey?? It is a little hard for me to see, so I wasn’t sure. For being taken through a window, guess its pretty neat.
