Billie, it may not be good for me to start answering pings so early in the morning....LOL~~

I sent the post I wrote to you, to Amy! Sorry about that! I have been reading a lot and answering a lot and I just hit the wrong reply as I was looking through everything.

Post 297 is supposed to be addressed to you....~~sigh~~

Excuse me, Amy....lol....

I agree with you whole-heartedly. This incoming crowd hardly mentions terrorism. They think 9-11 can’t happen again. If it happens again, it will be worse than the last time, I believe. People need to wake up and quit worrying about being politically correct. We need to do everything in our power to keep American citizens safe and if someone’s toes are stepped on.....so what? Its a whole lot better than letting thousands of Americans die in another attack. Guess I better settle down~~~LOL~~~! After all, we are at Amy’s Place...ha!

Pets are family.**

Definitely! A line from one of Jack London’s books has stayed with me since I read it when I was little. He was referring to one of his characters talking to his dog. He called it “love curses.” It took me awhile to figure out what he meant, but I agree. Stupid dogs! They make you fall in love with them, and then they get old and die way before you’re ready to let go.

On a happier note—the sun is shining here today, it’s supposed to get up to 60—not holding my breath on that one—the puddles are still iced over!

I’m making jerky from a deer hubby shot last week—can’t you smell it?! I’ve got the day off and I may even drag out some of the Christmas decorations!

Y’all have a good one!

How are the kitties this morn?

Both of my sons make jerky and it is better than any one can buy. One son is a hunter and he recently made deer jerky and brought me some. It was delicious. It isn’t so hard that you can’t chew it! The other son does not hunt but he will feed the deer in his yard occasionally! But he makes jerky from beef. So I get a good supply!

“So I get a good supply!”

Really!?!

I did mention that today is my Birthday didn’t I? Wanna get rid of any extra? (slurp, nibble, chew, chew, chew, sound of smacking lips inserted here)
(I turned 62 today and my bones feel it, I HATE the cold! 16 degrees right now)

As an old Montana country boy, jerky is a well established food group ya know!

How could today’s opening be even better than yesterday’s. That dog is precious sitting there with the big red bow. I love it. Michael Buble is one of my favorite singers. I like him a lot. I have seen his specials on PBS. And I have seen him on the Today show recently, even though I am not a regular viewer of the Today Show. Would like to have his Christmas C. D.

And ‘Let It Snow’ is a favorite of everyone’s during the wintry days. Thank you Billie and have a wonderful day! I will be working s’more today and every day it looks like!!

Jaycee, I have to agree with you about today's being better than yesterday's. I LOVE that beautiful dog, and this graphic didn't even take as long to 'do' as yesterday's opening.

When Amy sent me the picture I used today, I fell in love with it and couldn't wait to get it ready for an opening. This weekend was the first time that I opened my Christmas folder this year, and I found the red bow and the big snowflake. (Opening my holiday folders from one year to the next are as much fun as getting out my Christmas decorations to decorate the house and tree!)

Tell your kids you want Michael Buble's Christmas CD for Christmas (and Taylor Hicks' DVD of "Whomp at the Warfield"!) LOL

Thank you again for always being such a sweetie to everyone!

Oh, how I wish they could live years longer and stay healthy. I can't even bear to think about losing one.

Thank you for #284 and #287, too! I love that snow, too, and just let it snow all day long yesterday. (and of course this morning, too!) :)

Wish I could fax the jerky to ya! A birthday.....hmmmmm!

It is good when both sons make jerky! Although I did break that tooth the day after he brought it to me and like I said it was chewy and delicious. Oh well, just another tooth to be repaired or removed. The tooth had a root canal and so I have had no pain, just trying to make up my mind how much money I want to put into my teeth.

As Soon as Fred Gets Out of Bed

As soon as Fred gets out of bed,
his underwear goes on his head.
His mother laughs, "Don't put it there,
a head's no place for underwear!"
But near his ears, above his brains,
is where Fred's underwear remains.

At night when Fred goes back to bed,
he deftly plucks it off his head.
His mother switches off the light
and softly croons, "Good night! Good night!"
And then, for reasons no one knows,
Fred's underwear goes on his toes.

Ours is very tasty! You can eat a 5 lb roast before you know it! All I have to do now is wait til it’s done and find somewhere to hide it from #2 son. His nose is better than a bloodhound’s when it comes to sniffing out jerky! Hopefully, we’ll have enough for a few Christmas presents!

At last--Today's your Special Day!
The World all stops to shout hooray!
We wish you peace and joy and fun
Today you're the exalted one.
So have a drink or a cigar,
Go to the beach or buy a car.
And cut a piece of chocolate cake
Just after a big juicy steak.
And everywhere you go today
The crowds will part, as people say,
"Oh bliss, oh glee, oh happy joy!"
And thrill to see the birthday boy!
So dance and sing and have a ball!
A Happy Birthday from us all!

Your Birthday Is A Day Of Promise
by: Emily Matthews

This is a day of promise -
Of hopefulness, laughter, and cheer,
For this is a day of remembering
The good things that happened all year -
A day for reflecting on memories
Shared with friends and with family, too,
Who were so much a part
of the joys in your heart
And the love that you felt
all year through…
This is a day of promise
Of the beauty and warmth life can hold,
And of new dreams to dream
and more love to share
Through a year that's about to unfold.
