They are beautiful in their own right, of course! Once when I saw one fly from the evergreen right outside my kitchen window and grab one of ‘my’ birds, I ran out and feathers were flying everywhere. He was flying away with his catch. Gosh, I was upset and of course, my husband consoled me by explaining “this is the way it works”. I knew that but it was hard to watch it happen. Don’t want to see it again....LOL~~~

You are right that no one notices how good we clean. However, it makes me feel good. “If I were a perfect housekeeper, I wouldn’t have so much to do at one time.” Every now and then, we just like to do extra special things for our own well-being. I am sure there are those who do a lot more than I do.
Your most important job at this moment is to care for kitties and thats a good thing!

I missed the beauty in your graphic yesterday morning. It is so outstanding. And Johnn’s piece was just so perfect for that picture.

Thank you for your powerful words put to writing. It is so amazingly true.....and scary! Your words below should make us all sit up and listen.
"I ask you each to look at those you love gathered around you this holiday season, and consider that one day they may be the terrible stained and sprawled bodies we see in the news of the night."

ANCHORAGE, Alaska An Army military police officer survived 15 months in Iraq, but it was the Anchorage streets that claimed his life.
Authorities say Army Sgt. Evan Minnear died at the hands of a convicted felon who had been out of jail 16 days and was not supposed to be carrying a firearm.
Authorities believe Vongdeuane Vongthongdy killed Minnear outside the Woodshed Lounge in downtown Anchorage on Sunday. Vongthongdy was already on probation for the felony assault with a weapon during the shooting.
The 24-year-old Minnear had been in the Army since January of 2003 and had been assigned to Anchorage's Fort Richardson base since October 2005. His unit came back from Iraq to Fort Richardson in November 2007.
Keep Evil Chained, Let Honor Grow
Soft the bell, to toll the tale of honor lost
of values spent shamelessly, so high the cost
A tested hero home to hall and hearth at last
now becomes a shattered part of a family's past
A thuggish beast, trusted without reason's weight
decided in anger's rush, a bitter final so sad fate
One of pride and honor high, lost to evil, and to die
and too many bear the price of a decision gone awry
Unchained, the beast struck out as before and fed
and an honored soul was left to lie in a pool of red
What is lost can not be regained, this side of life
why do we set ourselves to endure this bitter strife
Leave fixed the chains and closed the door
and let such loss be never, never more
A family aches in needless pain to etch a soul
a thing of evil tore from them what made them whole

Billie, you slipped up on me. I was trying to answer yesterday’s pings.
How could today’s opening be even better than yesterday’s. That dog is precious sitting there with the big red bow. I love it. Michael Buble is one of my favorite singers. I like him a lot. I have seen his specials on PBS. And I have seen him on the Today show recently, even though I am not a regular viewer of the Today Show. Would like to have his Christmas C. D.
And ‘Let It Snow’ is a favorite of everyone’s during the wintry days. Thank you Billie and have a wonderful day! I will be working s’more today and every day it looks like!!

Expectations
My earnest expectation and hope [is] that . . . Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. Philippians 1:20
Expectations! We all have them. We expect that people will be nice to us, that well have good health, great marriages, faithful friends, successful careers. But what do we do when life doesnt live up to our expectations? In Philippians 1, Paul shows us the way. He faced broken expectations of place, people, and the future, yet he remained surprisingly upbeat.
Paul was stuck in prisonnot a great place to be! When we get stuck in a tough marriage, an unrewarding job, or a challenging neighborhood, its easy to get discouraged. But Paul was wonderfully positive. He said that his suffering helped to advance the gospel (Phil. 1:12).
Maybe people havent lived up to our expectations. Paul likely expected other believers to encourage him. Instead, some were actually glad he was in jail and were preaching out of envy and strife (v.15). Pauls response? Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice (v.18).
Maybe its an uncertain futurethe loss of a spouse, a job transfer, or a health crisis. Paul knew that at any moment Nero might give the order for his execution, yet he declared, For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain (v.21).
Adopt Pauls only expectationfor Christ to be honored no matter what!
In all I think and say and do,
I long, O God, to honor You;
But may my highest motive be
To love the Christ who died for me. D. De Haan

I pray that my words never come true, but I also fear that those who should being seeing to our safety, have other personal political power building concerns that supersede (in their minds and hearts) the job we gave them. If we have such an event happen after 9/11, and after eight years of no attacks, the people in power will have failed us, and badly! Sadly as is all too likely, they will never be held responsible when it does. I do not want to see pictures of Mumbai being played out here, but it is all too likely to happen.
