No, I didn't have any trouble opening it - the graphic or the music, it worked fine. As pretty as it is though; the music and the graphic, it didn't get me in the mood to start the holiday decorating/baking/wrapping "stuff", but it sure did serve to inspire me to open up photoshop and start making some Christmas graphics (that's what I was trying to say).

I am listening to Roy now and have added this song to my Windows Media Player Christmas Play List. Thank you, Billie. :-)

LOL! Oh, okay, I understand now. I was a little puzzled that you wrote you weren't in the mood for decorating/baking/wrapping if the graphic and music didn't open!

I have a much easier time putting music and lyrics to my graphics and vice versa than finding poems for them, and I hate to send so many graphics to Amy to have to search for poems or stuff to go with them. :)

Thank you, Meg, for the compliment on today’s opening, and thank you for your beautiful ‘blue’ post! Once again, it matches the opening, even if it was a coincidence!

International Day for the Abolition of Slavery

13th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution: Abolition of Slavery (1865)

Monroe Doctrine Anniversary

President James Monroe’s 1823 annual message to Congress contained the Monroe Doctrine,
which warned European powers not to interfere in the affairs of the Western Hemisphere.

The Monroe Doctrine is the best known U.S. policy toward the Western Hemisphere. Buried
in a routine annual message delivered to Congress by President James Monroe in December 1823,
the doctrine warns European nations that the United States would not tolerate further colonization
or puppet monarchs. The doctrine was conceived to meet major concerns of the moment, but it
soon became a watchword of U.S. policy in the Western Hemisphere.

So beautiful and peaceful looking. Thanks for sharing your unique artistic instincts.

Going to vote for Saxby Chambliss. Hope the dems don't steal this one too.

Hi, Aqua! Thank *you*!

I wish you (and Saxby Chambliss) luck - it seems our party doesn't have much of a chance this year. Hopefully 2010 will bring us back again.

My mouth waters at the thought of it..I have ingredients for an apple cake..I need a dessert in the house and just might make one this week. Yesterday’s pies were so tempting!

"Fresh Apple Cake" maybe? I make that one, and it is so moist and delicious, it's a real winner in our family. :)

Hey Jaycee, Sorry for delay but girls gotta work! I have been very good.

There is an element to Santa Claus that gets me every year.

Nostalgic but more.....It started with family love of those yesteryear..

Taught us to love our fellow man, despite human indifference!

This one wasn’t coincidence
;o) I remembered it had winter blues.

I had a treat seeing early morning sun hit the large red oak trees in my neighborhood and also on the way to the vet’s..Gorgeous autumn colors against a brilliant blue sky..
It is windy here and too cool to wash the sliding doors..(and they really need it) I am doing the kitchen floor while my kittens are away at the vets..They think sweeping and mopping are playtime.

My apple cake uses canned apples but it is also very moist ..I made it 3 days before company came last Christmas..wrapped it in heavy foil and put in a cool front closet..It was better than ever. Both my Hummingbird cake and the Apple Blossom cake are much better the day after baking..or later.
Now the apple fritters are really turning on my dessert hunger.
Celebrating two very important events in our history today..Great holidays, Billie.
I cannot fathom thinking “owning” another human being was ever acceptable.

I have been as good as possible~LOL~~Don’t worry about getting back quickly...I am the same way. Sometimes I will answer in the evening to a morning post. There are other things to do.

We try hard to love our fellow man..sometimes its hard, isn’t it? I get very nostalgic during this season thinking of those by-gone days and the ones we loved so dearly have passed on and we always think of them. But its a glorious time for celebrating the birthday of Jesus, even though we’ve let the other parts of the holiday overwhelm us and we all work too hard.

I hope you have a wonderful day today. Its cold and lightly snowing in Tennessee today.

You are killing me talking about the Apple Cake. I have made an Apple Cake but I think it calls for fresh apples....wished it didn’t. My neighbor used to make an Apple Cake and she put Caramel Icing on it and it was out of this world. Back in the days when we swam every day, she would bring slices of that cake for the regular three that were my best swim buddies. We had some wonderful joyous times and I miss those days. One of those friends has passed and she was my very best friend for 40 years. And the other girl is the one who moved to her daughter’s because of Parkinson’s and other problems.

I am going to be upstairs working for a good while now and won’t be around much, just in case anyone wonders where I disappeared to....lol! I have a lot of cleaning to do up there, especially the living room, where the tree goes.

Very Pretty, Billie. Thank you for posting and hostessing today's thread.

Today's Welcome reminds me that Christmas is right around the corner.
So much to do before Christmas break starts.

Have a lovely wintery day.

Snow in Tennesse and not in NY? What? I am jealous only because it is December and I want a white Christmas.

We had 6 degrees last Monday morning{near Kingston, NY(still very southern NY but country)}!

How fortunate were we to have Jesus incarnate on our world!

Yeah, I was skating around what I really want to say:
Although the economy is a grave concern for all, I am hoping it might shift the focus on what is the most important reason for the season.

Good morning, MamaBear. Looking forward to some new graphics.

I know that you have been busy with decorating and company. I’m anxious to get birthday party and Christmas Tea behind me so I can concentrate on Christmas.

Marissa has an appt with the Orthodontist (sp) this afternoon. She is anxious to get braces. She told me a kid at school calls her beaver teeth. I told her to ignore him but she still comes home and tells me again that he called her names. Ah .... the trials of being a parent.:)
