New here at FR. I am an old guard fiscal/social conservative who came on board the GOP bandwagon in the '80s with the Reagan Revolution. I slipped over from Townhall.com because that place seems to be infested with RINO's, moderates, neocons, and global interventionists. I sure do hope my ship has charted it's way to friendlier waters.
Welcome to FreeRepublic.com
Looks like you’ve found your home right here. Welcome!
It's not like there are any of those here...
You are in the right place!
Well, now Obushma... here’s how to post an Intro Vanity.
;-)
Welcome to Free Republic.
Welcome. Your first assignment is to tell us how you’ll support Sarah Palin for ‘12.
Welcome here.
We are a mixed bunch.
mostly social and fiscal conservatives
but we have some exceptions to that, a few libertarians left God bless em.
avoid Mormon, Catholic-Protestant, South-bashing-Reconstruction-Revisiting, Evo-Crevo, Dope Wars threads unless you like fighting and you will be fine.
the owner is very pro-life , that is one tangible clarity position here but not everyone here is
it can be a tough crowd, be prepared to defend your position with more than name calling
but you will meet some good folks especially on the gun threads and prayer threads and troop threads
and some here really go out and make stuff happen and we have a few celebrity freepers
good luck
Great, I just hope you’re a “of/by/for the People” kind of guy and not just a curmudgeon conservative. ;-`
Welcome! And what took you so long?!?
btw...neocons and moderates have sorta become passe here thank God with the repudiation of Mccain by both the Dems and his base
but like Zombies, they make keep popping up
there is a fight right now for the soul of the GOP and part of it will play out right here
Global interventionism?, if by that you mean preemptive military projection then you will have a bumpy road here
Welcome!
“that place seems to be infested with RINO’s, moderates, neocons, and global interventionists”
We have had our share of them lately also!
Fine summation of the facts barrister........:o)
I fall into the Barry Goldwater camp myself, especially towards the end of his career when he leavened his rock-ribbed paleoconservatism with a stiff dose of live-and-let-live libertarianism. I got to meet the great man right around the time of his retirement and I still find him more inspiring than anyone, with the possible exceptions of Reagan and Churchill. I think that his example points the way out of the woods we find ourselves in, and hope that when Sarah Palin emerges from under the thumb of the McCain campaign, we will discover that she is Goldwater's long-lost daughter.
I've had it with the big-spending, nation-building RINOs, and while I want our boys to stay in Iraq until the job is done and they can leave with honor, in future I will subscribe to the "more rubble, less trouble" philosophy. If something needs breaking and people need killing to keep this country safe, then that's what we should do, then clear out fast.
Real conservatism can still win elections. I think you will find many congenial opinions here.

Try Liberty Post. They typically are the idiots that toss around the term neocon and want to surrender to the islamists.
Here you will find 99% support exterminating the jihadis.
I never stuck around Townhall.com long enough to notice. Their website was just too cluttered and annoying.
